For the third edition of our FrixXxion podcast series we wanted to introduce you to Locks; a Manchester based DJ who is heavily influenced by the roots of the queer underground techno scene. 

After two years away refining his sound, Locks has remerged to bless us with his take on fast paced rhythmical techno which he layers with a variety of textures, tension and tones and we absolutely love it!

Alex Ranzino is a Producer & DJ from Amsterdam. His recognizable sound consists of a hard hitting combination of acid, techno and electro. Alex finds a lot of inspiration in old-school production techniques and music from the past era. The combination of oldschool and modern production techniques is very much audible in his own productions and dj-sets. 

Alex' main goal is to share the music he likes the most, this can either be recent discoverties, personal favorites or own productions. This often results in a diverse and eclectic range of sounds - breakbeats, acid, loopy stuff… It’s all appreciated! Alex has some releases coming up which you might could hear in this mix. ▻ You are originally from Munich, and now you live in Berlin, what brought you there?

I moved to Berlin for my masters but I loved the city since I was a child. Together with my passion for techno it just made sense to move there.

▻ Where did you have your last gig and how was it?

My last gig was Anomalie Art Club in Berlin for a privat event. It was fun but I‘m looking forward to play a clubnight someday. 

▻ You produce your own music in the meantime, how do you always start there and with what equipment do you have for it at the start?

I start with the kick and bassline, add a synth and fill the tracks with drums. I use an analog four a tr8s and ableton live to make my music. 

▻ What's on your musical agenda for 2023?

Finishing my first EP.

▻ I heard you go out a lot, what are your favorite clubs?

Berghain, RSO and ELSE.

Demo72 is a project between the two artists Moptix and Denø. They are co-founders of the event series and the label Grauzone Records from Tübingen. Their sound can be described as rhythmic and hypnotic. Last year in December we had the two guys from Demo72 as guests at our party in Munich. Seeing what she is evolving to music-wise made us eager to have her be part of our ongoing mix series with an exciting 60-minute recording.

Benji is a dj and co-founder of the label Pengan Records and is based in cologne, germany. His love for music started at a young age, and he has been refining his skills ever since.

As one of the creative heads of Pengan, Benji is always pushing boundaries and exploring new fields for bringing different art forms together. His dj sets are known for their hypnotic, deep, and rhythmical qualities that defy genre classification.
