◾How and when did you get into djing: After a long history full of passion for music, house, and techno, I got deep into the dance music scene while still living in Boston. I started DJing in 2015 after a group of close friends took me under their wing. They were all resident DJs at a monthly event called Binary, a party I very rarely missed. I was also heavily influenced by a summertime outdoor party called Dancing on the Charles, originally organized by Soul Clap, that truly helped spark my desire to get behind the decks. 

◾Who are your musical influences and what is your inspiration: Whoa boy... Now this is a tough question. I grew up on punk rock, metal, and some 90s house, techno, and drum and bass. I was a big fan of Chemical Brothers and Daft Punk, for example. 

I moved on to other music when I started playing drums. From there my biggest I influence in music as a whole became Umphrey's Mcgee  who led me to my absolute love of prog rock (Yes, King Crimson, Return to Forever, Mahavisnhu Orchestra), and a number of other genres. I traveled all over seeing them well over 100 times, and even met the love of my life through them. It's why I'm in Asheville. In a way, they also got me on the road back into house and techno. 

Once I got into DJing, my biggest my early inspirations were some Boston and Northeast locals. Mikey Maags and Banana Cat out of Boston, Business Casual Disco out of Connecticut, and Mr Bonkerz out of DC. When I branched out, the international sensations to really catch my attention and completely change my direction were Josh Wink, Joris Voorn, and Truncate, to name a few. 

Some of the most powerful emotions and experiences I've ever felt have been through love music, and long ago I vowed to make it a life goal to try and help create that for other people, whether that was through sharing or creating music. DJing has been the medium that has gotten me closest to that goal. I am inspired to try to connect to dance floors and music lovers in the way my idols have touched my passions. I don't think I'll ever get close, but every time I can make someone smile, dance, move, sing, or feel through music, I feel an incredible level of joy that can't be compared to any other aspect of my life. 

◾Describe your sound as a DJ: I am an adventurer in the esoteric and unconventional. When it comes to playing solo DJ sets, I strive to play music that tickles the synapses to create introspective experiences through hypnotic, pulsing, and psychedelic techno that doesn't rely on conventional sounds or boundaries to be effective. But that doesn't mean there won't be some familiarities mixed in. 

◾If you could play a b2b with anyone, who would it be: Well... I already play my dream B2B sets with my wonderful partner Peri Meters. But in terms of international DJs, I'd go with Joris Voorn. I'm a huge fan of his range and would give almost anything for a chance for the challenge of playing with him. Most people would say I'd choose Josh Wink, but honestly I'd rather just lose myself to his sets then try to keep up with him. 

◾What does the future hold in store for you as an artist: For me personally, my next goal is to work on playing live sets. I'm an avid guitar player, and have a deep desire to play live music in addition to DJing. There are some things in the works that are shaping up to be very special. 

For the community, I look to grow Synth Etiquette Radio with more live events, and of course building that archive of incredible artists as much as possible.

Honestly though, who knows? I'm enjoying the ride now, and for the most part I'm just looking to experience and contribute to the regional dance music scene as much as humanly possible.

Born in Holland in a military family she traveled Europe then landed in the US and found home in Charlotte, NC. Finding EDM at a young age she started listening and engaging in the scene in the 90’s. She works as a Landscape Designer/Pool Designer and on her free time produces and creates mixes for a number of guest podcast while also having opening duties for several international headlining acts.

A versatile house and techno DJ, Wilcot enjoys spinning laid back, smooth and groovy minimal just as much as he does dark and heavy high BPM techno. Experimentation and exploration are at the core of Wilcot’s style. Unafraid to seek out new sounds, styles, and genres Wilcot is always looking for new ways to get weird and groovy.

As a co-founder of Frequency Underground in Greenville and curator of the Collective’s weekly radio show, Wilcot and the rest of the Collective have been working hard to grow the local scene, forging alliances and creating bonds throughout the region.
