Pisk, better known as the co-founder of Swingrowers and the producer behind their 2018 album Outsidein, is returning this summer with a hot new single! It Ain’t Right, along with its B-side Mambolero, are being released ahead of the new ‘Blue Cover’ Series 2.1, a continuation of the popular Blue Cover Series which began in 2012.

The self-taught DJ, producer and sound engineer has produced three full albums so far, alongside multiple EP’s and singles. In the past, Pisk has enjoyed the opportunity to open for Parov Stelar, Caravan Palace, Chinese Man as well as going on tours of US, Canada and visiting many European clubs and UK festivals. Now, once more, Pisk brings his knowledge of the dance floor to the recorded medium.

It Ain’t Right serves up a cocktail of swinging dance rhythms, wrapped neatly in 21st century electronic dance music production. The Stuff Smith original (which can be found on the electro swing compilation White Mink: Black Cotton) finds an effective counterpart to its unique use of violin in a striking piano riff, which is carried through the dance club on a shuffling drum beat and deep synth bass line.

As can be expected from an experienced DJ, Mambolero follows the title track without skipping a beat and yet brings something new to the table. Introducing a seductive brass melody, the B-side is sure to be a hit with the fans at home as well as with the festival crowds.

LVDS is back with “1925” a great Swing Hop track, which consists of a well known swing sample and is very groovy. A fat Hip Hop beat combined with a clarinet lead melody and a distinctive saxophone theme, allows “1925” to meet musically in both time zones. A perfect comeback of the Roaring Twenties by LVDS from the Netherlands with this great Electro Swing arrangement, which already feels like a classic!

An infectious brand of subterranean pop fused with soul, funk and breaks cleverly spliced together to create the distinctive sound of Grinny Grandad. Based on the scissors and string mind of Chris Morton, the bands reputation for originality has earned them shows at major festivals including Glastonbury and Beat-Herder .

Described as 'Motown meets Def Jam' by Groove Armada for their 2010 release 'The Good Girl', 2013 sees Grinny Grandad set to release their latest EP, 'The Car-Bootleg'. The lead track, 'Monty' which samples Fleetwood Mac's 'Oh Well', spliced seamlessly with a recreation of the 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail' theme song is superbly topped with the vocals of Claire Swain. It is this gem that perfectly showcases the bands exuberance, earning the track comparisons to Jon Bonham of Led Zeppelin from BBC Radio 6 host, Tom Robinson.

The quirky undertone of 'Swim Fish' blends vocals reminiscent of 1930's Pioneer Days Mickey Mouse with hard hitting breaks. An unlikely marriage of music and yet it works incredibly well. The ability to successfully shift, merge and mix genres comes natural to Grinny Grandad. 

The final track on the EP, 'Q The Pimp', a floor filling break beat anthem with a smart groove, promises to render you helpless as the guitar riffs intensify and the rhythm swells fittingly paired with the line 'everybody rumble.' Not just anyone can sample PJ and Duncan and get away with it.

This summer Grinny Grandad will be performing on the festival circuit, starting with Beat-Herder festival in early July.
