Story Behind the Lyrics — Growing

Growing is a song about growth, honesty, and healing the hidden parts of ourselves. The lyrics explore how moments of self-sabotage, doubt, or destructive patterns in adulthood often come from the voice of the inner child, a younger self who never fully felt safe, heard, or guided. Instead of ignoring or suppressing that voice, the track reframes it as a call for compassion.

The song carries the message that real strength begins when we recognize that inner child and reassure them: “I’m the adult now, I’ve got this handled.” By stepping into responsibility and care for ourselves, we can break free from old habits, rewrite our story, and create the security that may have been missing early in life.

On a personal level, the song reflects a core part of my own growth. I have come to realize how powerful the dynamic between the adult self and the inner child really is. Much of my progress has come from learning to always listen to that younger voice, not to let it run the show, but to comfort it, guide it, and promise that it is safe. That practice has allowed me to step out of cycles that did not serve me, move past limitations from my upbringing, and grow into someone more grounded, resilient, and true.

At its heart, Growing is both an anthem of empowerment and an embrace of vulnerability. It is about realizing that healing does not come from denying the past, but from honoring it, integrating it, and walking forward with both your present self and your inner child aligned.
