Tāmaki Makaurau-based DJ Aw B has secured a bi-monthly residency at Pōneke's Club 121. The series, named ‘Aw B B2B’, sees her invite a special guest or two to play an all night back-to-back set at the club. Here we share a two hour excerpt from the first event from early June, when Aw B and Hurricane Emily combined forces for the first time. This section is from earlier in the night, while Emma and Emily were experimenting across genres and slowly building things up.

Oaariki is Tāmaki Makaurau based DJ and devoted advocate for Aotearoa’s dance and electronic music scene. Each year he creates a dedicated mixtape that captures the essence of Aotearoa’s various scenes, artists and directions as an accolade to the art of making music.

This mixtape is my annual ceremonial tribute to the great sonic bliss that is Aotearoa music and features both recent releases as well as solid classics that are as impressive today as the decades they were released.

This blend of home collectables was crafted for anyone interested in the diverse and evolving landscape of left field dance, electronic and ambient scenes in the land of the long white cloud.

Huge thanks to all the ultra gifted artists who’s common efforts make for a very delicious melodic journey.

Hailing from Manchester, producer and DJ @yung-anz knows what it takes to get the party started. Her self-titled debut EP was released in the summer of 2017, on Manchester club-and-label Chow Down, and was championed by fellow UK club figures like Murlo, Amy Becker and Butterz for its playful, high energy sound - steel percussion blended with UK bassline, half-time 808s, icy grime minimalism and synth polyrhythms. As well as producing her own music, Anz has made beats for grime MCs like Jammz - her track “Mission” featured on his 2016 mixtape, Underdog Season Vol. 1 - and has been honing her DJ skills, often appearing on UK radio stations such as NTS, Rinse and Radar Radio. For the 100th Choice Mix, Anz lets rip, with a riotous hour that, in her own words, “is dedicated to that moment when you decide you’re going out tonight.. the soundtrack to that feeling of anticipation is super important to me. Strictly ‘Friday feeling’ bangers, please use responsibly.”
