05/21 edit: Unbeknownst to me, I started composing this the day Miura passed away, on may 6th. This very drawing of Griffith was what inspired me to make this music and gave me the impulsion to create something after months of inactivity.

Star Funk

Only appearing on our compilations before, Lavande makes her debut solo appearance on DESKPOP with the cold and compelling "Amber Filaments" from her upcoming EP, Blossom. This song, unlike a lot of our recent catalogue, has somewhat of a "bassdrop" but calling it that almost undermines the amount of craft going into Lavande's sounds. She builds tension in the meat of Amber Filaments, yanking us from practically muted pauses between beats to gorgeous reverberating soundscapes within the same bar or two. This really sets the stage for Blossom (out on September 24th) which sounds the way a flower blooming within a wasteland looks. Amidst the bleakness of 2020, Lavande hopes to share this flower with you ✿
