For the 14th edition of the series, we welcome Berlin-based Dj & @eternalswoon co-founder @sssiog. With R&B vocals, bouncy house, and plenty of dance-inducing grooves sprinkled throughout, the mix is 70 minutes of uninterrupted vibes, coming to a dreamy conclusion with Orbital's 'Halcyon On and On'.

While we patiently queue up and wait for clubs to re-open, Nera skips the queue, kicks the door down and takes control to start the party early. AstroFM 126 // Enigmatic 22 by Nera

We're delighted to welcome Nala Brown to the GF series this week. The Rotterdam-based Dutch selector is part of the Ampfeminine crew, a collective of female DJs who have diversity as a core part of their vision and aim to create more opportunities for women and minorities in the nightlife community, most recently launching their radio show on Refugee Worldwide. She's caught our attention during her performances at Spielraum some time ago and the Dekmantel Connect streams more recently. True to her style, her selection is an energetic selection with electro at its core with techno and breaks sprinkled along the way. Lock in!

Galactic Funk Podcast 071 - Nala Brown

On 13th November 2021, we landed and returned home once more: back in our rightful place of Dare To nightclub. Picture the scene...

Super-sub DJ Boursin had stepped in last minute for COVID-fallen DJ Mooncup, pulsing his heavy as a house super subs through the main room, leaving no unaddressed club-cum-capitalist trauma untouched. Elena Colombi then slipped right on in, warping the UV paint on the walls to a new shade of weird. Her signature idiosyncratic chug, tampered with a charming yet chilling darkness, that on a slow and steady boil, tickled the room, tendon to toes. Then, energy, flash; Oceanic stepped up. Locked and glued and grooves of colour coursing through rhythm on rhythm, lifting souls into the ceiling. A sax solo here and tempo change there and a marvellous new state of being had been built and destroyed in one fell swoop.

Existing in the underworld of this enlightening fray, the dungeon was writing another story: the warmth, luscious ambience of Guest's inception was soon scratched away by the tickling rolls of amen and apache, as she sent us into the magnetically lean and dark side of a hardcore wormhole. Flicking the direction of the continuum train with the swiftness of an Uno reverse card, MJK launched the delirium straight back to the future, slamming a blinding frenzy of UK r00d with no straight lines, searing paths between old and new, packing fingers with gunpowder and filling the air with banger after banger.  

And even with the fulfillment of all this beautiful chaos, there was still room for a whole lot more: it was LNR's time to launch. It's honestly amazing to witness a player so new to the game with such powerfully raw, rave rich and deliciously misbehaving selection. The lasers of simpler times dancing in the minds so bright, of a dungeon full of people channeling the NRG of ravers decades before them. It was so intense and wild that before the end of the set, the room imploded and everyone was sucked into a black hole, leaving the track to roll out to an empty room. Not even lying, I swear it was that supermassive!

It was a bloody special one, to say the least. So to give you all a chance to re-live/enjoy a slice of the nawty rave-pie, here's the recording of LNR's mighty closing set.

GET LOOSE #4 - LNR

Recently joining the UK-based label All Centre as co-head alongside Simkin and DJ Pitch, Sobolik has been turning heads over the last few years with their futuristic club cuts on labels such as 3024 and early reflex. Hailing from New York, Sobolik's world is filled with colour and hyperkinetic energy - not fitting in one box, their output can span across UK-influenced soundscapes of UKG and weighty bass rhythms to glistening, rolling techno anthems which can be found on their recent All Centre release. A producer very much on the rise, Sobolik is one of our ones to watch out for in 2022, we're so excited to see what they get up to next! 

Speaking about their contribution to our series, Sobolik says, "this mix basically sums up where my head is at musically these days, both from the records i've been listening to and dj sets i've enjoyed recently from the likes of lychee & aaron j, aurora halal & ron like hell, sharlese, plo man, sister zo, and zoe mcpherson. i feel like each of these sets i got to experience in the past three weeks presented such a compelling and deep narrative that colored in and around the lines of 'straightforward' techno, and inspired me to rethink how you can blend together tracky/functional and more offbeat material to tell a compelling story in a set. this mix throws together a lot of disparate styles to hopefully stitch together something that's equally heady as it is danceable, and also includes a few juicy forthcoming bits from friends & comrades :)"

Untitled 909 Podcast 103: Sobolik

Cheng NWSH (pronounced: 'nwaaaaaaa-shheeeeeeee‘) is a Chinese DJ living in Berlin, where he also became an important part of the scene with his Awkwardly Social crew, curating many dope parties at different venues around the city, a regular show on THF Radio, a very tasteful podcast series and since Summer 2020 also one of the most interesting new labels from Berlin.

For his Warning mix Cheng is pulling out all the stops, getting into it with some next level Dub and Tribal magic to create a Bass and Breaks driven one hour ride of gentle brutality that captivates the listener in a very own way. For us it always means a special pleasure to introduce an immense talent which yet needs to be discovered by a greater audience - and this definitely is such a case.
