Her desire to bring together diverse communities under one groove has helped her to be one of the most loved and devoted DJ's on the West Coast.

Now, some cats might think slangin beats is all about showmanship, flamin' lights, and girls prancing around in cages. Bullshit! It's about feelin' the rhythm, understandin' the pulse of the crowd. You gotta know when to drop the bass like a brick on a bender, when to ease 'em in with a smooth groove like a getaway driver navigatin' back alleys.

See, I ain't just playin' records, I'm tellin' a story. One minute you're in a grimey warehouse in the industrial district and the next you're in a dust-drenched playa, esplanade party - all without leavin' the god damnclub. And the best part? You don't need a passport, just a good pair of dancin' shoes and the willingness to let the music take you for a ride.

Some say Penny Wide Pupils is a bit of a gangster, a bit rough around the edges. Maybe so. But when the lights dim and the first beat drops, you won't be thinkin' about my manners, you'll be lost in the music, movin' your bits like you won the lottery.

Lara Schneider has been DJing for 24 years starting out as one of the very first female DJs to ever represent psytrance in Seattle. Now playing mostly techno, she has dj'd in every kind of venue imaginable, from abandoned train tunnels and clubs to forests, deserts, farms, hills, and snowy mountains all around the Pacific Northwest. Whatever the setting, she has always been guided by one of the truest principle of Djing: A direct and spontaneous relationship to the energy of the crowd. She eschews pre-prepared sets in favor of improvisation, relying on her extensive and oft-replenished record collection and her sensitivity to the audience, both honed by many years of experience on both sides of the "stage."
These days, her ambition is to play more intimate gatherings, continuing to explore the ever-diversifying morphing of electronic music and the way it increasingly crosses over with other genres, with a keen sense for the explorations of the past.
