This is Side B of a very rare, digitized version of Aphex Twin's set at Furthur from 1994 (Wisconsin). Unfortunately, I received it on cassette tape, so the quality wasn't perfect. In addition, when I digitized it, I noticed a large gap of silence around the 12 minute mark (not sure what happened there), so I faded the mix out, deleted the silence, and faded it back in.

Ambient techno tribute 2 : 1991-2001

Biosphere is the main recording name of Geir Jenssen (born 1962), a Norwegian musician who has released a notable catalogue of ambient music. He is well known for his early "ambient techno" aesthetic and later for his "arctic ambient" style, his use of music loops, and peculiar samples from sci-fi sources. His track "Novelty Waves" was used for the 1995 campaign of Levi's. His 1997 album Substrata was voted by www.hyperreal.org  as one of the all time classic ambient albums. But over the last few years his albums (such as Cirque, Shenzou, Autour de la lune, Dropsonde and N-plants) have embodied some touches of jazz, classical, drone and even some dub-techno. The Honey Collection Vol.1

A 1 hour edit of the show given by Van Morrison at the Europa Hotel in Belfast city centre on 20th October 2012. The concert was part of the Belfast Festival at Queens celebrations. This edit was broadcast on French radio station TSF Jazz on 28th November 2012, because TSF Jazz focuses on jazz music it was the more jazz influenced songs were selected for this edit.

We welcome Chris Carter from Throbbing Gristle in our 25th Anniversary slot, an influential group for Jon More from Coldcut and in his own words;

"Its 1977 I was 20 & at art college in High Wycombe, 1976 had been a good year….the Sex Pistols had gate crashed our end of year party & The Clash played at the Student Union bar…  The Nags Head Pub had given me an education in all things punk, then Throbbing Gristle played and everything changed. (See a less than complementary review from the local paper on the Solid Steel Facebook page http://on.fb.me/XDa11m )

I could not understand why everyone got so upset…. After this initiation i started going up to London to buy records from Rough Trade…I had to wait until November & then as I walked into the shop - the last moments of Second Annual Report were playing… I think it was Maggot Death-recorded live in Brighton… pretty much a recording of the local dj insulting the band after they have left the stage… i bought the album, wrote about them for Stabmental Fanzine, put on a gig on at Goldsmiths College… went to about 12 of TG's gigs all over the country.. bought all the records… still have the flyers… a fan.
Throbbing Gristle was such an influence from the Industrial Records hyper branding to the sonic assault of their live shows… Still the deepest bass I have ever felt was at a TG's gig at Centro Iberico in London.. 

So we at Solid Steel are proud to have a mix from Chris Carter founder member of Throbbing Gristle and member of Chris & Cosi undoubtedly a major influence on todays electronic music..."

Solid Steel Radio Show 15/2/2013 Part 3 + 4 - Chris Carter from Throbbing Gristle

Solid Steel (22nd February) DK starts with a few current gems leading with the huge Romare track 'Your love', new music from Ty and the stunning single from James Blake, plus Machinedrum remixing Guilty Simpson and a classic Donald Byrd production for The Blackbyrds.
Then we welcome Joe Acheson (aka Hidden Orchestra) with his latest mix celebrating the release of the single 'Fourth Wall' from the  'Archipelago' album on Tru Thoughts. Like previous mixes it features all the variety of music that Joe has been listening to in the last year or so, much of which he has added to, mashed up or remixed, with lots of spoken word and field recordings. One of the themes is sleep, or the lack of it - and there's a strong theme of imagined live collaborations - Kelpe with Thom Yorke, Ivor Cutler and Johnny Cash trading verses over Jan Johansson's piano with added beats, Four Tet and Neil Cowley, Steve Reich with vocals from John Lennon and Finsta Bundy…
