The 5th element known as space or aether is the material that fills the region of the universe beyond the terrestrial sphere. Integrating experimental techno, actual samples from deep space radioscopy (specifically recordings of pulsars), and spoken words by Dr. Frank Drake (a senior scientist with the SETI Institute).  While Project Phoenix scanned about 1,000 stars all within 200 light years, the distance away from Earth makes the travel even further to Proxima Centauri, Ophiuchi & Omega Nebula.

FSOL's environments, samples were used on this mix, less known monikers and remixes of their work. It's a mixture of electronica, ambient, dub, downtempo, progressive house and rock, and pop culture sampling.

Like jumping on the high tide of a river and gazing across the horizon with nothing but smooth sounds ahead, in this 2 h 45 min journey throughout sound & machines.

https://soundcloud.com/mattxavier has been a friend of mine for many years now. A fellow music obsessive and trusted voice when it comes to all things ambient, techno, and beyond, we finally managed to meet in person while I lived in Los Angeles, and we stayed connected over music ever since. 

We’ve swapped stories about pressing vinyl and running labels, and he was the reason I first crossed paths with Joel Mull (Damm) at one of his gatherings held at a beautiful Topanga home. It was a serendipitous moment that still echoes today. 

A proponent for the deeper layers found in music, Matt has since become a practician, ambassador, and pioneer for psychedelic soundtracking. Along the way, he shared tracks from ASIP and other labels that were influencing and guiding his private sessions, shaping the grand masterpiece we present to you today. As his practice deepened, we exchanged many texts discussing his ambition to publish a book about his unique experience and include an accompanying mix on ASIP. 

Matt’s new book, ‘The Psychedelic DJ: A Practical Guide to Therapeutic Music Curation and Psilocybin-Assisted Therapy’, (https://a.co/d/5bFxc2h) is a groundbreaking manual for anyone looking to bridge sound and healing. Artificial intelligence, a sublabel of Warp.

The best of Warp records and ambient-techno from 1991 to 1998. In 1992, Warp records released the highly influential compilation Artificial intelligence that was 25 years ago. I made this mix of my favorite Warp tracks but also some other tracks released on similar influential labels at the same time such as GPR (General production recordings), Rising high records and Apollo. 1991 to 1995 was for me the best era of electronic music. Enjoy!

Artificial intelligence

Wildlifes, numbers, kids voices, nostalgia, analog sounds, drugs, ambient sounds, natural landscapes, cassettes and nature documentaries are part of the elements that define Scottish band Boards of Canada. This year marks the 20 th anniversary of their debut album, Music has the right to Children. I gathered over 50 tracks, originals from the bands, covers from producers on YouTube and Soundcloud, remixed of and by BoC and samples used by the band to pay homage to BoC. The result is the following 2 h 30 mix !
