Dear Casey,

You don’t know me, but I’ve spent half my life with your voice in my ear. From growing up in the middle of nowhere Arkansas—where I learned that the only thing worse than a slow harvest was that unfortunate run-in with the tractor—I’d tune in every week just to escape to the world of the Top 40. Then, there was that one unforgettable summer at Camp Wetmore, where I caught a pneumonia so bad they almost named it after me, and your countdowns kept my spirits up as I lay on that creaky camp cot.

By the time I turned 18, I thought I’d been through it all…until Uncle Sam came calling and I found myself drafted. I didn’t know what was scarier: boot camp or the fact that I’d be without your Sunday countdowns. But somehow, through it all, your voice kept finding me on those distant airwaves, reminding me that maybe, just maybe, everything would be okay.

Now, I make beats myself, but it’s all because of you, Casey. I created a track called “Aircheck” as a tribute to those golden radio days, and to the times you got me through every scrape and mishap. It’s dedicated to the man who made even the hardest times a little lighter.

So here’s my Long Distance Dedication to you, Casey—the voice that pulled me through farm accidents, camp fevers, and even the draft. Keep those hits rolling and those stories coming. Thanks for everything.
