Rarefact is the title of Vishal Unni's upcoming release on Qilla Records and the track we happily host its premiere. Smoothly and gradually, its subterranean groove shakes its foundation and provokes, in turn, an unintentional mood elevation and body participation. Thus, complemented by tender pads and flickering background noise, the loop embraces us as it carefully unwinds. Leading, then, to a delightfully rewarding drop that introduces us to the track's closing chapter. A high-quality dance composition reminiscing adventurous excursions to obscure and dark dance floors. Or, in Vishal's words: "an ode to the Indian dance floors". Along with it, a discussion with the producer about his last release for 2022 with some intriguing details.

Producer, DJ, and mastering engineer, SHFT, is set to release his latest EP, 'Samurai,' on September 18th via Qilla Records.

This four-track EP navigates the eclectic corners of ambient, downtempo, and techno, crafting a captivating auditory journey that lingers on the brink of sensory perception. The title track, 'Samurai,' initiates the EP with a fusion of atmospheric ambiance and psychedelic synth lines, illustrating a scene of a silent warrior under twilight skies, orchestrating a dance of courage and suspense.

Ahead of their 15th anniversary, @100percentsilk have assembled Late Shift Silk, a collection of tracks from a group of mostly new, and some familiar, names to the label. Label favourites such as Charles A.D. and Shine Grooves stand alongside new additions to the roster such as Warden and Dorosoto. The compilation is less a look in the rearview mirror than it is a map of the road ahead. 

Japanese producer @yamaan may be familiar to listeners for a 2020 cassette release on Tokyo’s Dotei Records, as well as lush, ambient leaning hip hop as part of CHIYORI × YAMAAN. They kick off ‘Late Shift Silk’ with “Night Flight”, an appropriately low slung slice of airborne techno navigating smooth, star-filled skies. Yamaan’s sound is perfectly suited for night drives across empty, neon-kissed highways running down endless urban sprawl.
