SUNANDBASS Podcast #158 - Viridity

I've been meaning to look back at this mix for some time, ever since I mixed and earlier version live on radio, so here it is, 26 track's selected from the iconic 'Shelflife' series. 

This was not an easy mix to compile, with over 100 tracks to choose from it took me a bit of time to finally come up with the final track selection (room to do a PT2). So I hope you enjoy the mix and that I have given this phenomenal producer and series the love and respect it deserves.

Switching from the analogue to the digital, we’re back with a follow-up to “Ghost Notes” – Radicall’s latest album. We’re talking about a digital-only four-track remix EP. In case you were wondering what you get when you combine a super talent with even more super talents, this EP is your answer. Radicall lends his signature blend of atmospheric backgrounds, fat basslines, and rolling and crisp beats to serve as an input material to be reshaped by the likes of LM1, Handra, Future Engineers, and Silence Groove; each of them a master of their own trade, and each of them with a different take on the main theme. LM1 turns “Quantum” into a steady-flowing Offworld-ish atmospheric roller, Handra transform “Silent Voices” into a smooth, no-frills dancefloor-esque stepper, Future Engineers offer a techmospheric hard-stepping rendition of “Superior Dark”, and Silence Groove closes the EP by adding a fantastic atmo-jungle twist to “Femme Fatale”. Excellence reinterpreted.

Transference was launched by Lee in 2010, kicking off with the Future Engineers ‘Ellipse’ EP. The label was established for Lee’s solo material as Future Engineers, but evolved to include various other projects with the likes of Electrosoul System, Sunchase, Operon, Cutworks, Radicall, Dauntless and Fuj.
