Undeniably one of the most impressive and active labels over the last five years, Infernal Sounds marks that illusive 025 record with what can only be described as an era defining compilation. A long and arduous process I'm sure, the IFS crew have compiled an incredible track list so big that it's presented in the form of not one, not two, but three hefty 12" plates! Twelve tracks in length, 'Crimson' LP welcomes a host of producers who've graced their presence on the label in the past, alongside a few new names who could be considered some of the best in the game right now. Not only is it an easy pick of the week, I also have the pleasure of presenting Fiend's effort who returns to the label with the high pressure, 'Mantis'.

PREMIERE | X-2-Zero - Tribulations [JahTek003]

1point5 is back for his first solo EP on In:flux Audio since 'Perception' back in January 2015. He has been pottering around the label plenty since then though, with plenty of remixes and of course, his collab EP last November with founders Tik&Borrow. This time round we showcase three tracks from the producer, all of which showcase his evolution into firmer Dubstep territory, whilst retaining that signature 2-step 1point5 sound that we know and love.

On remixes, it's a selection of label loves who are returning the favour to 1point5 after he provided superb remixes on their EPs. Ali McK & IYZ are up first, with their reworking of 'Backspace' - a more twinkly affair with a superb reworking of the lead section into something more dark and brooding, whilst still retaining the duos ear for a banger. Fork and Knife closes out the EP with his UK Garage take on the lead track 'Solar Signal', all percussion, wubs and vibes - the perfect exit to a stunning EP.

Ego Death & OCA2 - Smoke & Mirrors

Who’s the worst kept secret of the 140 scene? Smart money is on dubstep’s most intrepid shaman journeyman, Leo Cap. 

A law unto himself, with Changer EP, Leo’s stepping up to be a true Bad Man. Six immaculately crafted deep system bangers that stand up to any producer on the planet, with unreal sonic clarity, EQ depth and percussive energy. 

Lead single Bad Man begins proceedings with a groove so gangsta it makes G Unit look like the Jonas Brothers, whereas Selfish offers 2025’s best screw face inducing synth line. Changer switches things up with a futuristic soundscape before the drop obnoxiously slaps you around the chops and fails to apologise. 

Feel the Vibe comes in as cold as the arctic circle with its hypnotic swing, before Play flips proceedings to a technical playground of shaman sorcery - with EP closer Perfect gradually building to a wall of dub influenced bass weight and reverb drenched rim clicks. 

Who’s the baddest of them all? Leo Cap’s the game Changer.
