French producer HAELIUM returns with ‘Lost Someone’, the first single from his upcoming EP titled ‘Expanding’. Influenced by the sounds coming out of labels such as Warp, Brainfeeder and Erased Tapes, HAELIUM’s music is a place where opposites meet, offering a refreshing blend of deep melancholy and childlike optimism. ‘Lost Someone’ blends an ethereal atmosphere, punchy beat, and dreamy piano arpeggios. Smooth and melancholic vocals appear, and the track slowly evolves to an epic finale with a powerful heavy bass. The single is accompanied by a special edit of the track by indie electronic favorite Yppah, offering a slightly different take on the original composition.

French producer HAELIUM releases his 2nd single from the upcoming EP ‘Expanding’. ‘Somehow’ features more of his signature fusion of indie electronic & downtempo IDM. Influenced by the sounds coming out of labels such as Warp, Brainfeeder and Erased Tapes, HAELIUM’s music is a place where opposites meet, offering a refreshing blend of deep melancholy and childlike optimism. The single is also accompanied by an alternate edit from Loci Records organic house producer Murge. The original and the edit offer two flavors of the same composition, one embodying a contemporary indie electronic aesthetic, and one that is more dance floor and electronic focused.

‘Somehow’ follows the first single from ‘Expanding’, titled ‘Lost Someone’, which is out now. ‘Lost Someone’ also included a guest edit from indie electronic producer and prior Ninja Tune recording artist Yppah. The single has received editorial support from Spotify the same day as the release and continues to be a strong buzz on DSPs.

HAELIUM is a French producer whose dreamy electronica is a mix of cinematic textures, ethereal atmospheres and punchy beats. Influenced by the sounds coming out of labels such as Warp, Brainfeeder and Erased Tapes, HAELIUM’s music is a place where opposites meet, offering a refreshing blend of deep melancholy and childlike optimism. 

After releasing several singles and remixes in 2018, his track “Frozen” was released as part of Svnset Waves’ compilation in March 2019. The same year, he unveiled his tracks “Love” and “Naps”. In June 2020, HAELIUM released his first EP “Recovery” on Nowadays Records with an extended version in September. 

After releasing a new single “Moving Forward”, HAELIUM will release his second EP 'Expanding' in August 2021 via Future Archive Recordings.

小雨 (Kosame) in Japanese means “light” or “gentle” rain. It is an interesting concept for a specific kind of soft rain you might find on spring mornings. I wanted to name this album after a specific idea or concept that really captured it, and in this case the Japanese word fared better than an English translation. Most of these tracks were written and developed in late Fall of 2016 to early 2017. At that time, I had only been living in Los Angeles briefly. It was the first time I had experienced a true season of rains; often these rains were very gentle and would last through the night until mid to late morning before they dissipated, leaving a beautiful refreshing and cool air, blue skies, and green hills. This gave me a particular sense of tranquility and lightness, which in turn influenced the way I was writing and thinking about music. In particular, I strove to create songs that had a meditative feel to them. As with my previous work, I tried to keep the compositions intuitive and free-flowing, almost like a stream of consciousness, rather than based on a certain predefined concept or framework. I also brought in vocals for the first time, with local vocalists Selina Carerra and Carly Barnette, whom I met at small intimate shows in Los Angeles. The album also features some recordings from other friends, such as Yvette Holzwarth (collaborator with Tethys) and Parker Law and Connor Malloy on drums. This was also my first album recording drums, which was an exciting and interesting learning process. The photographs upon which the album art is based were taken in San Francisco in late Fall 2016, just after a light rain, and thus represent the core mood of the album. I’m very proud and happy to share this work with you, and I hope it brings you peace and tranquillity as it does for me. — Tristan de Liège

With "Swimming Pool", Spoq releases a new mind bending cinematic album. This work manages to combine warm, intimate, introverted acoustic instruments and melodies, with analogue basses, glitches, fat beats and sometimes even disharmonic, aggressive sounds. This is not at home in one genre, but rather draws chill hop, trip hop and ambient vibes just to juxtapose them with cinematic IDM and sometimes even Synth Wave and Drum'n'Bass elements. Spoq's very specific sound is very present in this album. It can maybe be described as shattering a symphonic orchestra together with vinyl crates and a bunch of broken synths, only to search for the most fragile shards and most solid pieces at the same time to puzzle together something completely new.

Even though it is an instrumental album, the themes behind "Swimming Pool" have a great emotional depth. Writer and producer Wolfram Gruss describes it as a very personal meditative musical reflection on what it means to be human: "A public swimming pool is a sort of microcosm, where for a short time we become the same. We jump in the water to swim, cool off, play, exercise or recreate. It does not matter where you come from, how you have gotten there, what your story is, what you own...everyone is just keeping their heads above the water. At the same time we become vulnerable as our bodies are exposed, the flaws and scars we rather keep covered up might show, our worries, problems and pains are waiting for us as soon as we leave the water. This is exactly the ambivalence I wanted to express with the title track. It is slow, relaxing, almost corny at times, but at the same time probably the saddest and heaviest piece of music I've ever created."
Whether you follow this thought process or not, "Swimming Pool" is definitely an album for connaisseurs looking for unusual and uniquely deep electronic music.

I wrote the tracks during various transitional periods in my life, so I was going through change - adapting, looking for the next steps, and finding ways for love to survive. Some of the most defining lyrics on the record popped up in my head while walking busy streets, while traveling, while in motion. I was discovering myself geographically and through the songs that ended up being DELIRIA.”
