With an abundance of amazing tunes and music coming out of these restricted times, it’s made for a bumper crop of wonky chuggers, acid heaters and sun kissed Balearic bangers for our annual ‘A Summer Riot’ EP.  So much so, that’s this year’s IX instalment has bolstered considerably, now spreading over two editions, and with 6 tracks apiece from some of our favourite producers.

Seasoned Futureboogie pros, Christophe and PBR Streetgang, head up the selection on Part Two, with Christophe delivering a meaty, reverb soaked, acid brain bender on ‘Critters 2 (The Revenge)’, whilst the PBR boys offer up a sleez and seductive Moroder inspired romp.

Glasgow’s Manakinz make a second appearance across the two ‘A Summer Riot IX’ releases, with the hypnotising ‘Mystic Throbber’, whilst Roe Deers come good with the quirky and funky sounds of ‘Monkey Dance’.

‘Fire In Zero Gravity’ by duo Acolyte, touches on Detroit techno soul and inspirative piano work for their entry, and Jakobin seals off the EP with the ghostly ambience and shuffling beats of ‘Mighty Mt’.

The calendar was empty; no dates or pre-booked appointments were scrawled across the page. Plans didn't really exist anymore, the days came and went, each day and night blurring into the next. There wasn't much point in checking anymore, it didn't really matter. April had passed them by in a haze and so had the majority of May. Perhaps June would bring more excitement...

Duro's next V/A collection calls on label friends old and new from all corners of the world. The next edition of the Muy Duro series features five tracks - including three collaborations coming courtesy of Calypso co-founder Thomass Jackson and Hard Fist's Cornelius Doctor, Concret & Iñigo Vontier and Martin Noise and Marzian, and two solo endeavours from Colombian producer Kabinett and Lithuania's Roe Deers. As with volumes 1 and 2, the EP dives deep into rhythmic vibrations and continues their celebration of diverse electronic sounds from across the globe.

German veteran Marc Romboy is back on André Hommen’s These Eyes imprint with a stellar two track release entitled ‘Elka EP’, showcasing Marc’s effortless ability to portray alluring and emotive characteristics through music. This offering follows up from ‘Trapped In An Orbit’, which he released on the label in 2017 and remains a label highlight to this day. 

The title track ‘Elka’ provides a stirring and suspenseful journey that plays out as it’s melodies unfold over a bassline that pulses gently and impels the listener. ‘Unreal Sun’ ups the energy with a groove thats ready to fall into and chords that lead the way, dictating the pace as their intensity undulates. 

Marc Romboy has dedicated 30 years to the scene, with an impressive history of releases on labels like Innervisions and his own Systematic Recordings, collaborating with artists such as Stephan Bodzin. It is a point to be made that the A side to this release is one of Marc’s personal favourites to date and it is clear to see why.

GNAA - White Noise Romantica (KM052)

K•Mo follows up his debut album ‘Vision’, released on Wayout in 2019, with his new single ‘7th Heaven’, backed with remixes from Tokyo’s Mahal and Sub Club’s Harri and Affi under their Manakinz guise. 

The duo rework the original deep feel’ of Praise’ into a more robust house cut, keeping the core of the composition whilst stirring in uplifting piano lines, dynamic percussion, acid-tinged resonant licks and a bumpy bass line.
