Little Light

Echo is the first song on my upcoming debut EP. It is about the spirit of a lost love, Ms Gecko, coming to visit in the night. I hope you think it is lovely and that it gets stuck in your head.

I’m one of Jehovah’s Witness. I write to think. I’m not a songwriter. I just play with ideas, and I always write for myself. I never intended to write anything for others, let alone songs for people to listen to. 

My musical skills are non existent. I am learning to play the ukulele :). When AI music came out, I saw it as a chance to experiment, but I didn’t plan to share anything with anyone. So I apologise in advance if I get the music genre wrong. I was just having fun. That’s when I got interested in lyric writing, so I started reading books on the subject.

Some of the books I’m reading include “Song Maps” by Simon Hawkins, “On Song Writing” by Aaron Espe, “How To Write One Song” by Jeff Tweedy, “Rhyming” and “Writing Better Lyrics” by Pat Pattison. I’m also subscribed to Keppie Coutts’ newsletter.

I think the music (Suno.ai) does most of the work to make these lyrics sound good. I can spend hours tweaking a song on Suno that ends up sounding terrible, only to hit on one at random that does a decent job of presenting the lyrics in music form. So, if you like a song, it’s because of random chance, not my skill.

I’d like to stay anonymous for a few reasons (including the one above), but also because I want to give all the praise and glory to our Creator, Jehovah.
