Just a little warm-up mini-mix.

I played these tracks from 8pm-8.30pm before Tony Morris came on. I did play a longer set after him too, but the DJ booth was up in a pulpit in the corner of the room, had no monitor and the sound sounded really bassy from up there so although I got compliments for the music, it's far from a perfect mix with several shonky mixes and some transitions that just go on for far too long, so that part is being scrapped, alas. Hope you like this little brief taster.

Amelia says.
"I love hip hop. I have been digging a lot of it because I like the beats and it’s fun to blend with trip hop and downtempo tracks. I also work for a record collectors, who has an incredible hip hop collection and we spend a lot of time listening to all these records. Beyond the beats, rhythm & lyrics, hip hop has an important piece in the history of music and the city I live in. I am grateful it exists.

This mix was recorded in Texas, in my bed room early January during the holiday season."

With both these labels James rescues underrepresented timeless music from the tides of time. Check out the three volumes of the sweet soul comps The Key To Our Love to get a taste of the depth of his work. Unmissable stuff. Expanding on his archival practice James is releasing a series of filmic portraits featuring artists from these compilations. The first is screening in Soho, London on June 22nd, check out Symphonical on IG for more info. The mix James gave us a superlative gathering of impossibly rare independent soul 45s, enjoy!
