Cloudchord (Derek VanScoten) is a producer, guitarist, and genre bending specialist that is augmenting musical possibility into reality with his remarkable technical skills. His refreshing takes on atmospheric dance music have solidified his place in the world of psychedelic chill hop beats.
 
VanScoten was inspired by pivotal live experiences leading him into jazz and classical guitar studies, while digging through the fertile left-of-center instrumental hip-hop. Born out of this aesthetic convergence, Cloudchord has established himself in the burgeoning lo-fi chillhop scene with his own blissfully hypnotic sonic alchemy. He’s since racked up 100 million total streams and won an Emmy for scoring on the documentary In Football We Trust, all while building his reputation with engaging live performances and an overflowing catalog of tunes.

This is the archive of our regular show on Cashmere Radio, Berlin. 

It is undeniable that we are living in uncertain times. For those of us failing - or refusing - to fit the patriarchal, racist, neoliberal mould we have lost hope in the future. We can see capitalism is not working but we cannot yet envisage an alternative. We discover that the stability we were instructed to obtain whether it be financial, political or ecological, is fleeting, if at all. The resulting anxiety is an instrument of neoliberalism that prevents many of us from being able to raise consciousness of the structural injustices that alienate us.

In a world where security is no longer feasible, the only constant we can rely on is change. Barad teaches us that the world is a dynamic process of intra-activity and materialisation, an ongoing ebb and flow of agency. The Buddhist Law of Impermanence proves that nothing in this world is eternal. Regardless of ones point of reference we can understand that every aspect of life, physical and mental is in flux and perhaps this transience is the only thing we can depend on.

Each month host @lou_drago invites an artist to ruminate on these ideas and create an hour of relief from these anxieties. A temporary suspension of reality, where the listener can speculate on alternate futures free from all systems of oppression.

Taartaaria is a metal band known for their heavy riffs and intense soundscapes. Formed by long-time collaborators Behzad Khakbaz and Mo Kazemi, Taartaaria brings a unique blend of talent and passion to the metal scene.
Behzad and Mo have been working together for over 16 years, initially honing their craft in their homeland of Iran. Due to the restrictions on metal music in Iran, they made the bold decision to move to the United States, where they could freely express their musical vision. Their journey has been marked by collaborations with numerous metal musicians in Iran and performances in Dubai.
This year marks a significant milestone for Taartaaria as they prepare to release their debut album. With roots in Iran and a new home in the US, Behzad and Mo are ready to take their music to the next level. The band's dynamic sound and compelling backstory set the stage for an exciting future, including plans to tour the US and connect with metal fans across the country.
