Blew Velvet is a musician and performer based in Brooklyn NY, with a penchant for the darker, gayer side of dance and club music throughout history. Experiemmtning in selections of gay underground pop and synth-oriented music, this mix for Deep South focuses on an ecclectic cast of dance music from innovators of Italo Disco while checking the notes from an era where club music had a Hi-NRG tint laid over the amorphous queer atmosphere.

Brian Rojas comenzó DJing bajo la tutela de Vicki Powell en Atlanta en 2017 y pronto se convertiría en residente de la junta icónica. Como miembro de Deep South, se le puede ver en Sunday Service en Sister's Louisa's Church, y también comparte una residencia con La Choloteca, una parranda queer Latinx. Nacido en Venezuela y criado entre Vzla y EEUU, sus influencias provienen de la música tropical del Caribe y de EEUU, house y disco. Su selección de música se esfuerza por traer una fusión de estas influencias para honrar la dualidad de sus raíces.


Brian Rojas started DJing under the mentorship of Vicki Powell and Deep South in Atlanta in 2017 and would soon become a resident dj of the iconic southern party crew. As a member of Deep South he can be seen at Sunday Service at Sister's Louisa's Church, and he also shares a residency with Atlanta based crew La Choloteca, a queer Latinx party. 

Born in Venezuela and growing up between there and the US, his influences come from the tropical music of the Caribbean (salsa, merengue, calypso, tambores) and disco and house from the US. His music selection strives to bring an amalgamation of these influences to honor the duality of his roots.

These influences resonate in this exuberant mix from artists and producers from South America, Africa + EU
