Materia Hache troubles and from that troubling makes politics. It is in a permanent search of collective displacement from an individual introspection. It is QUEER, it is TECHNO, it is HOUSE; Since the beginning of 2020 she has been immersed in the search for women and nonbinary producers to give visibility and voice to all those who fight for and to create a dancefloor that deserves to be danced.

    Short story about the mix:

"Touch belongs to the order of what is difficult to represent. And the thing is that every sense has a related and isolated organ that we can investigate. In the case of touch, its organ, the largest in the body, is the skin itself. A sense that allows us to establish con-tact ("with-touch") with ourselves and with others; a sense that is always defined in its relationship with. The health crisis that we are experiencing, of never-before-known proportions, has divided bodies and stipulated new politics of contact-no-contact, or of touchability (that new normalized normality). Human geographies and the notion of personal space have mutated and with it what it means to touch. Brushing a skin against another skin seems to have aligned itself with violence and disobedience. It is worth wondering if touching will continue to trigger ethical dilemmas, if it will continue to be a crime monitored and punished, or if distance will make us lose consciousness of our own bodies."

"This mix was one of those "I feel like DJing by myself right now on this Saturday afternoon" kinda situations - which is today spontaneous and freewheeling without much of a plan other than what I wanted to hear in the moment. I try and record basically any time I DJ so 1) I can listen back and get to know my music better, 2) think about ways I can improve and, 3) I have the lightning captured in a bottle if any sparks do indeed fly. Stylewise, I would say the magic word for this mix is "momentum". Some tracks are a little housier, some are more locked to the techno grid, but I think they all propel you through time to the next beat (and the next, and the next). Hope you enjoy!"

La Materia Hache incomoda y desde ahí hace política. Está en una búsqueda permanente de desplazamiento colectivo a partir de una introspección individual. Es una forma de resistencia desde el cuerpo de baile para un cuestionamiento/desplazamiento individual/colectivo. Es aquello silencioso que está abierto al constante cambio: es lo queer, es lo techno, lo house, lo ∀mor; es lo que nace desde el miedo, la distancia y la incertidumbre; es todo aquello que intentan invisibilizar mientras desde el underground respondemos con ritmos que nos desplazan, que nos cuestionan, que nos convierten en una sola materia, al menos por unos instantes, más fuerte que cualquier forma dada. 

MH empieza a pinchar en el verano de 2018, durante 2020 se sumerge en la búsqueda de productors mujeres y/o no binarias, para dar visibilidad y voz a todas las que luchan por y para crear una pista de baile que merezca ser bailada, actualmente sigue investigando en busca de un sonido que no deje de hacer sudar a la pista de baile.

Chromatic Podcast 109 | Materia Hache

2021 sees EPM hit a new milestone as the Digital Distribution, Rights Management, PR company and record label celebrates 20 years of electronic music.  The first part of the EPM20 celebrations will see a series of three different genre based, multi-artist EPs released across the summer focussing each on techno, electro and then house – the three main pillars of EPM’s musical heritage.

Each EP features four exclusive brand new tracks coming in specially designed sleeves for the series.  The first of these, out late May, will focus on techno and presents four new tracks from Robert Hood, Ben Sims, James Ruskin and Mark Broom.  In June we turn to the 808 beats of electro with brand new cuts from The Advent & Zein Ferreira, Carl Finlow, Detroit’s Filthiest and Modulator aka Freddie Fresh.  The series wraps up in July with four hot, house summer tunes featuring Eddie Fowlkes, Jon Dixon, DJ 3000 and Rico & Sonny (the brand new project from Adam Stolz and the recently departed Tim Baker).  The compilation ‘EPM20’ will follow after the summer.

Materia Hache (@materia_hache) and PercolatorJr (@percolatorjr) met at the dole queue. Without resources, they couldn't afford a Xone 92 mixer each, so they had to learn themselves to use the one they had. It wasnt much later when they started doing common playlists and sets, an easy flowing task due to their shared love of Detroit Techno, Chicago House, Ruta del Bakalao, Specka club in Madrid and political chaos and upheaval all over the world.

About the mix:
Lockdown melt
Nothing can be more alien to techno and house culture than a long confinement. Everybody knows, or should know, by now that house and techno are all about building and enlarging communities. The relentless pounding of the kick drum is just the gathering call for all sorts of raving communities: political, ritual, working, loving, self-managed, sexual, tactical, generational, class based, weird, autonomous, postcolonial, etc, you know who you are. All these, tangible or imagined, present and past, communities are the reason why techno and house have thrived during the long months of lockdown and will very soon explode into something both very old and very new. This rave paced mix is for all of them.

Toujours dans le but de vous faire découvrir de jeunes DJs et producteurs locaux, les Itinéraires Mixes continuent de nous faire voyager à travers des sets électroniques éclectiques. Pour ce 82ème mix, c'est la DJ et productrice techno parisienne @Benabou qui nous propose un set d'un peu plus d'une heure nous plongeant dans un univers musicale sombre et hypnotique envoûtant.

C'est en parcourant les rayons de vinyles d'Europe que Benabou s'est retrouvée dans l'effervescence de l'univers musical techno. Influencée par des labels renommés comme Token, Polegroup, Eaux, Semantica, Hypnus Records, Northern Electronics et bien d'autres, la productrice parisienne ne cesse d'expérimenter en mêlant ses influences originelles (jazz, soul, musiques psychédéliques) et actuelles nous plongeant dans un univers sombre et hypnotique. Elle a déjà sorti de la musique sur les labels Gynoid Audio, Substantiv, Take Hit et Cosmic Wave. Une sortie sur le label de Zadig arrive très prochainement.
