This version was released in 2020. The original was made in 2001, in a wonderful little MS-Dos based program called FastTracker 2. I made chiptunes all the time back then but remember how I made the original to this one after a long uneventful night out in one sitting, letting all emotions out before hitting the sack. Clearly the highlight of the evening :)

I played around with a really old sample library that I imported into Logic myself. The modern DAW messed up the RAW sound that I was looking for but something else came out of it and then I made a whole album of old school chip tunes in the month of December in 2021 and released them in early 2022. This track got especially funny since I imagined a Lyrebird mimic the sounds unnatural origins...

This song started as a experiment with a few samples and then one night I got into a flow and landed a meaningful lyric (in my own opinion ofc). I feel like I maintained the right vibe I wanted throughout the whole process and got it out through the mastering process.

Full Circle

This is originally a rock song that I wrote for my grunge/rock band back in the day. It had lyrics back then similar to the guitar melody but I soon realized that it was much cooler to just take out that melody on the guitar and play it instead so we could play most of this song live...well, maybe not the drum parts. This is the best version I've recorded of the song - by far :) The graphic on the cover took me a while to make to. It's from a old picture I drew when I was in 4th or 5th grade.

Just tried to make a remix of my old song from 2001. It turned out pretty cool I think. The breathing effect in the chorus was unintentional but clearly the best newly added part since the original in my own opinion. Sometimes you just get lucky with the sample choices I guess :)

Maybe not the best recording from Detached Ignorance (rather the worst) but I love this song for it's simplicity and it's message. The lyrics is about a gamer who tries to run away from reality in different games all the time - as many of "us" do. I will have to do a remake of this song some day, but this original have it's merit still.

I wrote this song in the middle of the night at work sitting with a guitar that had some strings missing. I started to reminisce how I, in my youth, one time walked into my local grocery store with my electric guitar just to buy some drinks before rehearsal and it caused some kind of reaction that I wasn't prepared for. It took me a lot of years to realize that I could spark some kind of interest in another human being - sadly. So, a bitter sweet pop rock song it is.

I made this song from an old guitar-idea recorded on my dictaphone, maybe from 2011-2012. I played around with that inside of Logic one night in 2021-2022 (so approximately 10 years later) and recorded the vocals. I took it home and crafted at it some more. This song felt more like a metal piece needed to go through different workstations then one of my usual song projects. The different sections was so definite but the song itself was so fluent and alive, it's pretty cool that I managed to keep the original guitar idea alive and still added what I wanted in the manner that I did.

Something Real

This is the eight song in the first album about Touli Chate. A Album where every song corresponds to one chapter of a book that I wrote a long time ago. The best thing about making songs of these chapters was that I could sing out with emotions that I wanted the different characters to have rather then sing about my own life, for once. This song is about how Chates older brother is bitter about them going separate ways in life.
