This research article investigates the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on individuals in the Republic of Ireland using a novel approach.  Researchers employed social virtual reality (VR) and digital storytelling, having participants reconstruct significant pandemic-related locations in 3D to explore their experiences.  Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) was used to analyze interview data gathered within these virtual environments, revealing key themes related to life experiences, health, life events, environment, technology, and employment. The study highlights VR's potential as a transformative tool for social science research, enabling a deeper understanding of complex human experiences during crises.  The findings contribute to a richer understanding of the pandemic's multifaceted effects and the role of technology in shaping individual responses.
