Set back an Let the flow of these improvisations come onto ya ...                           It all began as an impromptu evening visit and morphed into a wonderful evening of musical magic...  Rough n ragged but filled with sweetness and flow, we feel they're definitely worth a listen as a contrast to today's often over-produced musical offerings.

We recorded these Musical Conversations in Tim Elliot's living room in Victoria, B.C. with only one middling Microphone an Upright Piano and his Guitar suite, and I'm so glad we did!

Pause... and Flow

May 'the Heart of Hope' beat forever within us.  For to become overweeningly cynical is to loose faith in Life itSelf, cutting ourselves off from its renewing Pulse and Creativity!  Even in the darkest times, there is always a Silver Lining;  always someone, somewhere, who in response to their inner Integrity has the courage, creativity, and strength of character to let their 'better angel' win through that the Light might shine through us, and illuminate our worlds.  In-deed, why not let that someone be us? ;)                                          

Yeah... let's have some Faith in the wellspring of human decency, even if we imagine that it has been irretrievably lost. I feel that As 'Creatives' having particularly sensitive and keen Eyes and Ears, it behooves us to take the High Road.

Furthermore, living out of A Heart of Hope and compassion lets our Humanity shine through the gathering clouds of despair and opens the way to a brighter future for all.  And as to 'the specifics' of how this will manifest, again, it is up to each of us!

One Life One Love One Destiny

Here's my latest Piano Improvisation.  
(from 2018)

It came welling up out of my heart and soul almost a month ago to celebrate my love and appreciation for one of the dearest souls i've ever had the pleasure to know.  And now it has taken on an even greater meaning with her sudden passing on April 29th.

She was my Muse,  my Bestie, and my Wife of 33 years.  <3  

Her name is Paige, and she was one of a kind. As I've said many times, 'a different kind of angel'.  :)  

She passed away in my arms Sunday evening after our family members had all said their goodbyes in the Intensive Care Unit.

Yes... I had to 'pull the plug', and I know she wanted it so (as we'd discussed such contingencies years before).  But it was tough. However... her Spirit would have been denied expression if we hadn't agreed on such a course.

And now, she is finally free of the continual burden of pain which she carried so gracefully and uncomplainingly over the past few years. 
She is at Peace.  As am I. <3

 Love gifts us a whole range of emotions and experiences as we walk its road and share its selfless spirit. But chief amongst them is true Joy.  I feel that Love's ultimate destination is always Joy, no matter the heartaches and misunderstandings brought on by our inexperience with it. And to be honest, i really can't imagine anything more meaningful and nurturing in this ol world. For ourselves...and in the sharing of it with others.  For as i see it, problems and heartaches arise only when we either don't or won't, Love enough. 

So... i entreat us all to let our Love flow on through us ... 
to let it be expressed Creatively in whatever way is appropriate in the moment,
like the notes and phrases of a Song that means everything  - freely given and also delightedly received,

May we now its endlessness....
ever New, and Nurturing.   <3

Within the Radiant Glow of a Campfire far from home ,
I am Warmed... 
and Relax into the velvety dark beauty of the night ...

My mind floats effortlessly,
Upstream... into the Plethora of Light 
that is The Milky Way... 
and Within that Current Between The Notes,
i Find mySelf 
At Peace...
and Whole.

But far from Dreaming,

And as the primal Rhythms whisper of Wonders beyond the crackling fire, 
and Fan the momentum of this moment within the Stillness of this Wondrous Night,
a perspective is painted that I've never seen, 
or known before...

and I am Drawn wholy into The Magic of a Cosmic Consciousness.

and Above...  
a glittering Treasure Chest of Stars 
Spills Light across the Velvet Sky... 
and twinkles out a Radiant message to all who behold their Glorious Light,
and Feel within that Resonant thrum,
That Yes!
All is Well in Heaven 
and Earth!

And no matter what i think,
that I Am indeed the Music, 
for as long as it Plays 
Within my  L i s t e n i n g  loving soul.......

Under Starry Skies

I realize it has been quite a while since i last posted.
Since my recent bereavement, I've been remembering, re-balancing, and finding it much more difficult than i could ever have imagined. Paige was the Love of my life, my best friend, and such a character!  :-D
 
But, all things considered, Life is Good! The death of ones beloved, not so much. 
However, the love of friends and family continues to make all the difference as i am on my own again for the first time in 35 years.

So, it gives me great pleasure to release my first New Piano Improvisation since my darling Wife, Paige, who was also my Muse, and Best Friend, passed away in my arms so suddenly on the first day of May in 2018).   

Now, all i can do is continue to Share my Love, my Music ... and to Remember and Cherish the Fullness of All we inJOYed during the many years we adventured together.  <3 

In-deed, i pledge to continue Creating and Sharing the humble musical gifts i have been blessed with, in remembrance of the amazing love we shared. 

Rest in Peace, and continue to Be yourSelf wherever you may Be, 'My love, my fair one.' 
Our Love is Forever! <3

Songs of the Heart

This piece was written specially for the second edition of the "Omnibus Laboratorium" in Tashkent in August 2006. The piece was inspired by Georg Heym's Berlin I:

Beteerte Fässer rollten von den Schwellen 
Der dunklen Speicher auf die hohen Kähne. 
Die Schlepper zogen an. Des Rauches Mähne 
Hing rußig nieder auf die öligen Wellen. 

Zwei Dampfer kamen mit Musikkapellen. 
Den Schornstein kappten sie am Brückenbogen. 
Rauch, Ruß, Gestank lag auf den schmutzigen Wogen 
Der Gerbereien mit den braunen Fellen. 

In allen Brücken, drunter uns die Zille 
Hindurchgebracht, ertönten die Signale 
Gleichwie in Trommeln wachsend in der Stille. 

Wir ließen los und trieben im Kanale 
An Gärten langsam hin. In dem Idylle 
Sahn wir der Riesenschlote Nachtfanale.

This is my first instrumental piece in ages! :) The Music is starting to flow again my friends. I'm starting to Feel the JOY bubbling through once again.  :)  I hope you'll sense this too.

Movin' Thru The Lockdown _ w @joerxworx on Sax

There is a deeply fascinating Theory of Consciousness by Physicist Sir Roger Penrose and Anesthesiologist Dr. Stuart Hameroff which continues to gain momentum and it’s called ORCH OR, meaning - Orchestrated Objective Reduction.  It also continues to prove itself out experimentally.

These deep thinkers and the creative process they describe, inspire me!  :)

For those whose interest has been piqued, Orchestrated Objective Reduction or ORCH OR, is a biological philosophy of mind which postulates that Consciousness originates at the Quantum level Inside neurons, rather than the conventional view that it is a product of connections between neurons. The mechanism is held to be a quantum process called lobjective reduction that is orchestrated by cellular structures called Microtubules. It is proposed that the theory may answer the hard problem of consciousness and provide a mechanism for free will.[1] 

The hypothesis was first put forward in the early 1990s by theoretical physicist Roger Penrose and anesthesiologist and psychologist Stuart Hameroff. The hypothesis combines approaches from molecular biology, neuroscience, pharmacology, philosophy, quantum information theory, and quantum gravity.[2][3]

While mainstream theories assert that consciousness emerges as the complexity of the computations performed by cerebral neurons increases,[4][5] Orch OR posits that consciousness is based on non-computable quantum processing performed by qubits formed collectively on cellular microtubules, a process significantly amplified in the neurons.[6] The qubits are based on oscillating dipoles forming superposed resonance rings in helical pathways throughout lattices of microtubules. The oscillations are either electric, due to charge separation from London forces, or magnetic, due to electron spin—and possibly also due to nuclear spins (that can remain isolated for longer periods) that occur in gigahertz, megahertz and kilohertz frequency ranges.

There's no doubt about it, Music animates my Soul, and as an enthusiastic student of Life as well as a passionate Improvisational Pianist &  Composer, as far as I'm concerned, our lives would be impoverished without it ! :)  Composing is all about 'Sharing the Joy, Passion and Angst' we experience in Life, as well as connecting with Musicians and 'Creatives' worldwide. This makes it even more wonderful!  That willingness to engage in whatever way makes SC an ever-expanding Movable Feast that nourishes and inspires on so many levels. 

Music Communicates the Emotional and Informational Content and Context of Heart, Mind, Spirit, and Soul. And 'Letting it Flow' is 'Where Its At' as I hear it!  

Over the past few years since becoming part of the SoundCloud Family, my 'Joy in and Passion for' Creative Musical Expression has increased exponentially as has my appreciation of all the wonderfully passionate Musicians and Creatives worldwide who have devoted themselves to Letting It Take Form! 

Here's a bit of a bio, if anyone is interested.  

Somehow, my MUSE got my attention at a tender age. About the time I was completing my Royal Conservatory training. 

My memory being poorer than most, I began improvising in the passages I had forgotten. And while the audience seemed unaware, my teacher chastised me indulgently, saying, "it appears I have a budding composer on my hands"!  And thus began my Odyssey into the wonderful Vibrational world of Sound!:-) In-deed, I have been an ardent, attentive and appreciative acolyte of my Muse ever since. 

During the early 1970s I had the pleasure and honour of a three year friendship and Master Class with the then Octogenarian Composer Manoah Leide-Tedesco , one of Tone Poem giant Richard Strauss` favorite pupils and friend of Maurice Ravel and other 20th century composers such as Stravinsky (whose music he helped popularize). Since then, whether Improvising, listening, studying composition or devoting myself wholly to the visual arts for years at a time, I have been deeply aware that sharing my musical insights , teaching, and or mentoring young aficionados came with the territory!   I love it, although I am afraid that as my consciousness expands...that I know less and less each year! :-)  

The Tonal Oasis called SoundCloud is a fine and wondrous place in oh so many ways.  And with your support and appreciation, I de-Light to share my music with an ever widening audience. I call what i upload ' Sound-Seeds'.  Most of these 'bed tracks' call out to be fleshed out by passionate soloists who somehow Resonate with my Soundz and Ideas.  So please drop me a line, as i am most interested in letting them bear more fruit through collaboration, interpretation, re-mixing or use in other media.    

And on a personal Note, a Huge Thank-You to each and all who listen, inJoy, and Re-Post onwards what finds it's way thru me! :) Bless y'all.  It's my Joy to simply 'Let' the Creative Spirit find expression through this instrument of Body, Mind, and Heart!  I hope you will find some peace, joy, and rest, in at least some of my improvisations, compositions, or soundz. 

Insofar as playing, and composing  ... as you continue on in Your journey into  the infinite 'Cave of Wonders' we call Music, I wish you all the very best in all Your creative endeavours.
