Swaying analogue synthesizer arpeggios, playful beat-work and what feels like echoes from an alternate dimension. Following his 2017 album on Omena, Saine's new LP 'Ceramics' is a caringly laid out array of sound - the album has a vivid sense of life and movement to it. Manoeuvring between styles and atmospheres comes second nature to Saine, but what's truly highlighted here is emotion - steering away from short-lived trends, the LP offers a non-forced listening experience by an artist exploring the different facets of what his music can be.

A 12" featuring four different artists from the relatively new label from DJ and producer Anton Bogomolov aka Scruscru (SlothBoogie Jamz/Omena), although it has to be said its individuality and freshness are increasingly upping its profile as each new released drops. Russian duo Street Choice open up this time round, getting the swears in in a matter of seconds (and throughout) but lifting us into orbit with 'Still On Is MF Record', a gloriously sweat soaked collision of house, disco and US garage. Evidently feeling a bit more mellow, Scruscru himself offers up a Flute mix of 'Long & Sleepless Nights', evoking jazzier French house scenesters like Etienne de Crecy or St Germain. On the flip, Juravlove's 'Boys & Girls' ups the tempo again and the mood with it, a cure acid line sneaking in behind more organic instrumentation. The more reflective Nephews' 'Polo Blanco' brings things to a warm, more snuggly close, ultimately leaving us with an Ep that has heaps of variety and quality in equal measures.

Being recognised worldwide as an international record label doesn’t come without respect and devotion to our roots, and that’s the meaning of this new catalogue. The first issue is about Milan -the city where Apparel Music was born and is now based- and Kisk (featuring Oneboy) does the honours, with a very peculiar version of the most popular Milanese song ‘Oh Mia Bela Madunina’, out on all digital platforms in December 2022.

You know that long hot days are fast approaching when it is Brazilian music that you crave. Thankfully the Scruniversal has got us covered with a second release that is as scorching as the first. It pairs MPB, samba and Latin flair with hard-edged hip-hop and funk stylings across a pair of tunes from Scruscru, each one a different collaboration. The first is alongside Tony Lavrutz and has gorgeous vocals and organic percussion paired with cut-up beats and jazzy keys that will ignite any floor on 'Rave Du Brazil.' It is Los Protos's jazz funk groover 'Primavera' that gets the good vibes going on the flip.

For the latest release on his Scruniversal label, ScruScru has turned to friend and fellow Russian deep house and nu-disco producer I Gemin. The sometime SlothBoogie contributor has delivered a tidy and tasteful three-tracker just oozing with class. Check first 'Astrafunk',a warming 188 BPM loop jam that peppers a rolling, jazz-flecked house beat with boogie bass, kaleidoscopic synth doodles, warming chords and spacey motifs, before admiring the early St Germain style jazz-house classiness of 'Make It Real'. To round off a rock-solid EP, he lays down a suitably trippy, woozy and surprisingly loose-limbed chunk of dusty loop-house whose restless electric piano motifs and rumbling bassline are undeniably addictive

I Gemin - Red Red Black [Scruniversal]

Local Talk are proud to present a live recording with Soulphiction & Netzer from 2018, recorded live just a month before the official release of 'Bizzness' the first of several releases Soulphiction and Local Talk released together.

Bizzness is by many considered a classic and had all the trade marks of a Soulphiction tune with its dusty soul and funk-infused house ingredients.

This live version really shows the vision and forward thinking of Michel Baumann using his Soulphiction moniker.
