On the First remix is Brighton based producer Tech Support. “Coconut Mall really caught my ear with so many huge elements, I wanted to strip it down to its most basic, becoming a loopy club affair built for the middle of a set. There are small flourishes here & there but for the most part it retains a driving rhythm taking reference from Italo & electro of the late 80s with a souped-up modern feel.”

We could not start our review without copying & pasting the PR text of the forthcoming compilation of the rising & shining Mexican label Kyma Komplex. Featuring only Argentinean producers, “Protesta” transmits its message through six powerful cuts made with disapproval and objection by Viktoria Jauregui, Ludmila Fuks (SXDNS361), Genderless Goove, Mecha Corta, Ivan Olson, and Kil. Via their craft, the young and promising hermanas & hermanos expressed their indignation towards the scumbag who is currently governing their lovely country.

Premiered here, Ivan Olson’s very first release, with its flammable attitude, is a fierce and fiery theme ignited by furious synth layers and frantic percussive elements. The deep vocal-like pad and heavyweight funky gait cannot go unmentioned. Kudos!

Even though esteemed norwegian DJ Ole Martin Vilberg aka Omar V and Robin Craaford, one half of Dance Disorder with Baby G ( Bpitch, Eskimo ) are hardly young guns, they gang up together for the first time on "complete": a blinding cut that harks back to the time with good ol Jack was still the young buck and closely associated with uncle Electro Funk: tough beats, hyperactive claps, a jittering bass and a catchy, squeaking melody are still rattling bones if masterfully pieced together as it is done here. A few kids - Matt Warren, Miguel Garcia and Ralphi Rosario, get together to join forces with the already established Sunset Mobile Disco - owned by brothers Alex and Robert Rojo - to create a new record label as an outlet for their productions.
In the following 4 years, Sunset Records Inc. released some of the most groundbreaking Chicago House records, mixing New Wave, Disco and Industrial influences with "beat tracks" and a huge amount of talent expertly scouted by Matt Warren & Miguel Garcia.
While largely remaining in the shadows of larger labels like Trax and Dj International, the metamorphosis of Sunset Mobile Disco into Sunset Records Inc. perfectly illustrates the wide range of influences that gave Chicago’s dance scene its unique sound.

Was resident DJ at the weekly Blast Club in Chester since summer 1988, Quadrant Park Liverpool 90/91 , Sweet Chester , Elevate Bangor   etc etc  .. Now Djing at Electrik Disko every fortnight, and throughout the summer we are in the outside courtyard area in The Commercial Bar Wrexham. Nice sound system and great location ..puurfect.
