With a slew of releases on such respected imprints as Dam Swindle’s Heist Recordings and NYC’s Let’s Place House, Amsterdam based duo Makèz have been steadily building their reputation as purveyors of Jazz infused house music. Having worked on tracks with Inner City, Folamour, and Nebraska (and been remixed by Dego & Orlando Voorn) they now announce the launch of their own label Sonic Soil with the scorching single ‘Love You More’, which features Melbourne’s Allysha Joy (30 / 70 Collective) alongside fellow Amsterdammers Gallowstreet, accompanied by dancefloor-ready remix from Mr G.

After meeting for the first time, Kees and Willem instantly recognized each other’s passion for music. Their love for house, disco, jazz, and hip-hop served as a foundation for their friendship and, later on, for their musical partnership. The resulting output of their creative efforts blends the essence of genres and eras they feel inspired by, and their own ideas to the mix, creating an instantly recognizable slice of soulful electronic music. In the studio, the two are in perfect harmony. Willem is in charge of creating the soul-soothing chords and melodies that define the duo’s sound, while Kees brings the rhythm that provides a steady foundation for each track.

With additions coming from Amsterdam’s finest brass outfit Gallowstreet, ‘Love You More’ takes influence from classic West London Bruk, completed with a 2023 edge - melding Jazz progressions with club ready energy . Allysha Joy is on top form here, her soul elevating vocals lifting the proceedings to a new spiritual plane. On the flip, UK legend Mr. G transforms the track into an anthem for underground dance floors, delivering raw, hypnotic drums and distorted basslines like only he can. Not too shabby for a first release.

Our 33rd release is replenished by a young talent who has arrived again from the storehouse of house nuggets - Tom Arkay with his strong three-track "Inner Spirit EP"
Clement - a Parisian DJ and producer. He has been mixing for more than a decade, sharing his own vision of house music, moving from hypnotic deep tracks to heavy raw cuts.

Inner Spirit - is a garage house inspired by the New York sound of the 90s. This track creates the atmosphere of a real house party and makes you dance until the morning. Better Late Than Never - is a tighter house groove that makes you move to the beat of the music. This track is ideal for lovers of deeper dense sound.
