SQWAD - Damn Right

NuBass makes his mark on 1Forty with a track that would give a lot of sound systems a run for there money. Meltdown does exactly what is says on the tin with a hazardous bass accompanied by a toxic-like shudder climbing down in pitch which combines to make this track one that should come with a pre-warning.

The 18 year old producer has only been on the buttons in the lab for 18 months but its easy to see why he's climbing the ranks so fast and gaining the respect of some of the scenes biggest representatives like Skepsis, Holy Goof & FooR who are supporters of his music. With a Radio 1 play already under his belt coming from Shapes who recently laid down a Guest Mix for MistaJam and support on Marcus Nasty's show the London producer has a very bright future ahead of him.

With releases already coming through Deeprot and having played recently at the likes of Lightbox (London) & Switch (Southampton) expect to hear the signature NuBass sound more and more over the coming months.

Namena - Trust

The second track on 1FBSS003 comes from fellow Brighton producer Freddie Martin who serves up a bass spiralling, sound design masterpiece in ‘Don’t Download’.

As a musician from a young age, Freddie Martin has become notorious for his dramatically orchestrated compositions within the UK bass music bracket. Held in high regard by a large portion of the scene, Freddie has gone on to solidify his unique blend of orchestral instrumentation and intuitive sound design as one of the leading sounds in “Southern bassline” and underground dance music in general.

In July 2018 he was interviewed by UKF after an astonishing breakthrough year and it was too no surprise that he describes his motivation in music is to “make something different and true to myself and get someone to question what bass music is about and music in general”. When you peer into his discography you can see that this is something that is in his mind every time he flips open his DAW.

Zero has become one of the pioneering names out of the next generation of upcoming producers in the Bass scene since its resurgence in 2016. Initially the Brighton based producer started out producing various different genres within electronic music until he found his calling at 130bpm. 2017 was spent building his catalogue and really honing in on his sound showcasing his music via the Southpoint & Saucy camps. At the end of the year his remix of Chris Lorenzo’s ‘Foot & Mouth’ made its way into some A-listers inboxes and within a matter of weeks all the big players at the table knew who Zero was.

Fast forward to the end of 2018 and Zero is the name on the whole scenes lips. Releases across Maraki Records and Crucast as well as featuring on Holy Goof’s FabricLive 97 along with his ‘Enter The Dragon’ Remix which took shows by storm around the country, so much so that DJ Pied Piper gave the nod to let it be free’d to the masses. His innovative productions rewarded him with bookings at Boomtown Festival, Printworks, Mint Warehouse, Antwerp Warehouse and Bassment just to name a few as well as a guest appearance on Rinse FM from arguably his biggest inspirations - My Nu Leng.

2019 will see him bridge that gap from support to headline artist starting with his debut 1Forty Release, as well as another major US Label as he looks to pull up his seat at the top table alongside the likes of DJ Q, Flava D, Skepsis, Holy Goof, Taiki Nulight.. you get the jist.
