Jamie Durrant began his music career performing in the Melbourne band Degenerates Jamie Durrant (guitar, vocals), Julien Chick (bass) and David Klenjans (drums). Their 1991 EMI/Chrysalis EP release Out Of My Head saw them nominated for 1992 ARIA Award for Best New Talent.

In 1992 they released the singles "Crazy World" and "Play Dinosaur” shortly followed by their debut album "Play Dinosaur" produced at Studios 301, Sydney, by Kevin Shirley.

In 1993 Durrant launched the label Bent Records, releasing the second album "Outspoken" for Degenerates, followed in 1993 by "Life Expectancy" as a part of the 1995 complication titled "Bent the EP”.

During this time Durrant released a solo single "Goodbye" in memory of the passing of musician Kurt Cobain. A full-length solo album followed titled "The Mountain Song", featuring the single "In My Head” with a video clip directed by Jamie's father, artist Ivan Durrant.

By the end of 1995 Degenerates had become Box of Anger. They released an EP, "Clean" in 1995 and a self titled album in 1996, the album was similar in feel to Radio Head’s OK Computer LP, yet was released a full year prior. It painted a dark sonic picture of a post apocalyptic fantasy world.

Durrant started Penny Safari who released a single "I Believe In Love/Two Pennies Drop" in 1998, followed by the album "The Safari Inn" released in 2000. Production for the album followed songwriting sessions in LA with hitmaker Tom Deluca.

Durrant continued running Bent Records throughout the 90s and 2000s, recording and releasing bands such as: Killing Heidi, Spudgun, Incursion, Lisa Maxwell and others. Durrant continues songwriting and producing in his home studio Riverview Lodge in Benalla, Victoria.

His latest solo recording “Endless Circle”, a post punk/electronic work is due for release October 10, 2020 through Bent Records.
