For this special edition of our mix series we have dug deep in to our record collections, focusing on some of the tracks that have influenced  our own sounds in the studio.
The electronic music of this era was very much in an experimental and evolutionary stage and at the time was considered to be quite futuristic, The beauty of it for us was the fact that it was so open-ended in terms of style, with no  strict adherence to specific songwriting rules but rather an attitude and spirit that combined aspects of punk and pop with a slick production sheen. A lot of this  music was directly influenced by the use of TR-808 drum machines, modular synthesizers and funk sampling and has created the templates for today's club music that is now common place on our sound systems.

This was one of the first ever 'fix-ups' we made for the Generic People dj sets... We have noticed it doing the rounds again lately on other DJs sets and mix tapes even tho we haven't had it available for download in a few years, so we've decided to give it a little freshen up with some new drums, a bit of Moog and some extra chops and make it available for free download....ENJOY!

"Train in Vain" is a song by the British punk rock band The Clash. It was released as the third and final single from their third studio album, London Calling (1979). The song was not originally listed on the album's track listing, appearing as a hidden track at the end of the album. This was because the track was added to the record at the last minute, when the sleeve was already in production.

"Situation" is a 1982 single by the British synthpop band Yazoo. The song was originally released in the UK as the B-side to Yazoo's debut single, "Only You", which went to number two on the UK Singles Chart. Released as a single in its own right in the U.S., the song peaked at number 73 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. However, it became Yazoo's first song to top the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart in the late summer of 1982, and it remained at number one on this chart for four weeks, and even crossed over to the R&B chart, peaking at #31 there.
The song features a memorable synthesizer hook by Vince Clarke (similar to the work he had done with his previous band, Depeche Mode) combined with the vocals by Alison Moyet (including her laughter, which has since been sampled in countless other songs including the international dance hit "Macarena").

Tried, tested, tweaked and approved on the dancefloor of my  dj residency in the intimate Backroom of Club Lux.
It encapsulates the vibe & sounds inspired by early 80's disco, 90's house along side modern club friendly electronica that provideds the soundtrack every Saturday night.
This title track from my debut solo EP comes in 2 favours...
'start of night version'  rolls in at a pulsing 110bpm dubbed out modern disco groove that whets the pallet and sets the tone for the night , while the 'end of night version' uses the same ingredients but comes out with a peak time , feel good anthem to send them home happy.
A bonus special remix is delivered courtesy of Jason Busteed , one of the Hottest Irish producers of 2020 & the head Honcho of Lefty Shade Records. 
He was given a sneak preview of the forthcoming debut solo Album while visiting me at the studio during a recording session. He was so blown away by what he had heard that he insisted on reworking 'Up All Night' for his own DJ sets.  He serves up a dark slice of pulsating feelgood to the dancefloor."

You Blow My Mind (Ant of Generic People  edit)

Ant of Generic People is often & best described as a multi-media junkie.
An established visual artist, graphic designer, disc-jockey, VJ & music producer based in the creative hotbed that is Cork City in the south of Ireland.

He built his reputation as part of the GENERIC PEOPLE collective who have notched up a well-deserved standing for tearing-up clubs and festivals with their cutting edge Audio/Visual DJ sets and full live band shows. 
Known for sticking two fingers up to musical boundaries & rocking a multitude of high energy, floor shaking, mind bending ideas, cross-genres & styles during their Live shows & hybrid DJ sets. 

In 2020 he made his debut as a solo artist with a string of Top 10 tracks alongside the steady release of the “Backroom Edits & Remix” series that feature the cuts that were made exclusively for his Disk Jockey sets.

His sound is fresh, original and highly influenced by his first love of Disco & raw Electronica and styled by his sublime live DJ sets as much as they are by his studio sessions and personal record collection.
His music belongs equal parts on the dancefloor and equal parts on your headphones.
