Choque es un compilado hecho por amigos con el propósito de recaudar fondos para la reconstrucción de casas en las zonas afectadas por los sismos que ha vivido Mexico en el último mes. En los días que siguieron al 19 de Septiembre, estuvimos en los centros de acopio y entre los escombros, ahora que es tiempo de reconstruir también queremos hacer algo. No es una solución absoluta pero como músicos, podemos contribuir con nuestra labor. La totalidad del dinero recaudado será donado a 'Échale', una organización que lleva más de veinte años construyendo casas en zonas de bajos recursos de México y que ahora se están enfocando en los lugares afectados por el sismo. Nuestros amigos de Ensamble también hicieron un compilado y está increíble, ellos están recaudando fondos para contribuir a los costos de una brigada de rescatistas que va a poblaciones extremadamente aisladas. Choque is a compilation made by friends with the purpose of raising funds destined towards the re-building of houses in areas affected by the series of earthquakes that have hit Mexico over the course of a month. During the days following September 19th, we were in the donation centres and in between the rubble of collapsed buildings. Now that it is time to rebuild, we want to do something too. This by no means an all encompassing solution but as artists, we can contribute with our labour. The entirety of funds raised will be donated to Échale, a registered not-for-profit with over twenty years' experience building homes in low-income areas of Mexico. This organization is now focusing their efforts on areas that were affected by the earthquakes. Our friends at Ensamble have also come out with a compilation and it's amazing! Gobstopper alumni Loom returns to the label for his third outing since debuting with ‘Grade’ back in 2014. 

Now a founding member of club collective and party, Acid Fantasy — a popular club night he has helped run for the past year alongside Akito and Nervous Horizon duo TSVI and Wallwork — Loom’s palette has continued to expand and evolve, as evidenced by sparkling new record, ‘London Ambient’. 

Where ‘Grade’ and 2016 follow-up ‘European Heartache’ functioned around experimental grime tropes and fractious melody, ‘London Ambient’ unfurls broader, complex landscapes and sounds, inspired by discovering ‘so much new music’ working in London record shops over the last two years. “I’ve been introduced to so much new stuff, music I never would have heard before”, Loom explains, “…and these new influences gave me loads more drive to start making music”. 

Written with a wide-eyed sense of discovery, ‘London Ambient’ flexes between futuristic, sci-fi soundscapes (‘Heavy Glow’), sprawling acid-y club trips (‘Aacccid’) and sub-heavy, rave breaks (‘Saturday Job At Laser Quest’). These myriad sounds, bookended by the lush ‘Heavy Glow’ and dreamy, bubbling soundscape, ‘Forever’, compound Loom’s new-found sense of discovery — a fitting motif for a label that continues to grow and re-mould with every release.

The latest release on Tobago Tracks sees Berlin-based producer Alobhe deliver four blistering cuts of forward thinking club music.

State Space encapsulates the paranoia and angst felt in an increasingly polarised world, typified by feelings of helplessness. The EP spans four sonically diverse pieces, opening with ‘State Space Conversion’, which introduces Alobhe’s visceral and direct aesthetic.

While ostensibly lo-fi, tracks such as ‘Numb’ and ‘Reload’ contain elements of progressive experimentation that challenge the perception of conventional lo-fi hardware based club music.

Numb’s nauseating warped sample over a solemn distorted electric guitar dirge epitomises the lack of agency felt whilst voyeuristically consuming the spectacle of the modern world. These themes are continued in ‘Reload’, where out of sync drums and lead loosely give the track shape, implode briefly, and then reassert themselves, further adding to this sense of unease.

With an enigmatic online presence and little to go by outside of her moniker, Alobhe has created a jarring fusion of electro, black metal, techno and sample based experimentation.

In 2016, DJ, producer and member of Genome 6.66MBP Tess Sun, aka Hyph11e, began work on her debut EP.

Living a double life as a composer for TV by day, and DJing around Shanghai by night, the passing of time often stifled and spurred on her production process. After having a dream of a Vanishing Cinema, a place where memories disappear in front of your eyes through the passage of time, Hyph11e quit her day job to focus on her own music full-time. The result is four original, uncompromising tracks that owe as much to vintage noise and industrial music as they do to field recordings and contemporary club music.

On the remixes, Tzusing tweaks and tunes “Black Pepper”, driving it into idiosyncratically ominous territory; M.E.S.H. rebuilds “Unknown Number” from the ground up until it reaches the clouds; while Kid Antoine takes “Escapism”s warning sirens and cuts them into playful, bouncing cascades.

FEED GOALS by ENCHANTED LANDS is a of collection tracks of that can best be seen as assemblages, showing intricate weaving and arranging of sound materials. Her tracks form strange scenes or frames where just when the sound seems to settle down a turnover point is reached and a delicate change of balance results in a whole new plateau. Receiving cues from ASMR, impact blasts, and natural phenomena, these elements become sound ingredients that add microscopic texture, sensuality and depth to their complementary sounds. Moving beyond any high or low fidelity,  the nature of the sounds blend together into a space where compression artefacts, phone mic'ing and high-tech sound design mingle fluently. From weeping wind harps to whispered confessionals to immense trance reveries, the result is a sound that eludes itself and forces the ear to expect some curious inversion around every corner.
