Coming in as the eighteenth release is a selection of 5 textural wonderments from Swiss duo Atrice. Characterised by acute attention to detail, crystalline sound design and the mastery of spatial utilisation, their sound leaves a remarkable impact that will no doubt warrant multiple listens to really capture a sense of how meticulous their works are. 
On ‘V-Rin’  The drums are punchy and heavily detailed, with a pulsing steel drum that takes charge of the bit-crushed low end and the intricate collection of otherworldly percussion. Intermittently we are called to attention by amorphous screeches offering a melody only an organism from another world could comprehend

Following on from a release-packed 2021, Infinite Machine are back with a new 4-track offering from the relative newcomer, Aroent. Across 3 new original cuts (plus a rework by UK dance royalty, Ploy) the Berlin-based producer delivers some serious rollers crammed full of gnarly drumwork and a pervasive air of unease. Like the strange, abstract creature of the record artwork, the music of Say EP is an amorphous beast, mixing the dense arrangements/layering of 90s IDM records with the off-kilter and swung beats of UK Techno and Funky.

The EP opens with its title track; a whirl of snaps, claps and phantom samples all firmly underpinned by an acid-inflected bassline. Aroent embracing of chance and luck in his compositions is evident on this track, throwing in idiosyncratic automations and randomizers to grow and evolve the tune over its 5 minute duration. The vox samples (stolen from Breaking Bad) seem to decay and fall inwards on each other on ‘Say’, as if the song is soundtrack to a decaying and corrupted society (not dissimilar to Heisenberg’s).

On ‘Rolling Oddities’, Aroent’s love for the Bristol bass & techno scene really shines through clearly. A track that seems almost built for a spinny night that rolls on until the morning, the song really does what it says on the tin with its combination of driving, rhythmic elements and it’s smattering of pretty out-there decisions in terms of arrangement and sound processing. This is a definite must-listen tune for fans of Batu, Lurka or Hodge.

Next up, ‘Bobcat’ takes things in a slightly more buoyant and ecstatic direction with its ever-rising filters and muted percussion that seems like it’s dancing along on tip-toes. On this song especially, Aroent’s genre-agnostic approach to production is abundantly obvious with elements of techno and bass sitting alongside kick drums that wouldn’t feel out of place on some Jersey Club tracks.

Ploy brings up the rear on Say EP with a ferocious ‘Skeletal Tool remix’ of the releases’ title track. Taking a reductionist approach to his rework, the Timedance signee strips out some of the originals’ more hyperbolic or dramatic elements and reduces it to a polyrhythmic, semi-genreless heater. Seriously - you try and pin this edit down to a single ‘genre label’, I dare you!

Despite the small number of releases to his name, Say EP is a highly confident and well-realized offering from the Greek-born, Berlin-based producer. In a way, Aroent is already creating his own sonic signature that lifts and interpolates aspects across the UK Bass spectrum and turns it into something totally unique. This is music that lurks in the shadows of warehouse clubs.

The duo presents a sound design show-off consisting of raspy stretch algorithm artifacts, vocoded pulses and slimy granular flurries. Rhythmically, high impact overdriven kicks and syncopated motifs give the tracks a high energy urgency and momentum. Simmering, crusty chopped up break beats accompany stroboscopic pads, glistening metallic percussion and sweeping electro-acoustic gestures. Maneuvering naturally between almost snapping, bursting, fragmenting passages, effervescent glistening chords sometimes emerge, ready to get whacked by mangled, contorted drum machine outbursts.

A hypnotic and energic rise to power until a mental, cerebral break.

Cogan unveils‘Power Source EP’ for Friendsome Records’ 5th Anniversary

Cogan, a stalwart of the Parisian collective House Of Underground, expands his musical horizons as he integrates with the Friendsome collective and label. This union culminates in the release of ‘Power Source’, a departure from his established high-energy house style to an enthralling exploration of Acid Techno, imbued with 90's rave influences.


‘Power Source’ is an outcome of Cogan's dedicated year-long work on his live performance. The EP showcases four tracks, crafted using a meticulously curated array of equipment including MPC, Prophet Rev2, Tb-03, Korg Monologue, Sh 01-A, and Quasimidi Rave-o-lution 309. Renowned for his proficiency in house music, Cogan ventures into uncharted territory, delivering a collection of uptempo tracks designed to invigorate dancefloors and captivate audiences.

The EP's official unveiling is set for September 9th, 2023, hosted at the esteemed Badaboum venue in Paris, coinciding with Friendsome's 5th anniversary. The EP commences with the evocative opener, ‘For The Hackers’, paving the way for the exhilarating anthem, ‘For The Racers’. Tracks 2 and 3, titled ‘For The Gamblers’ and ‘For The Farmers’, present unique encounters that coalesce, forming an auditory expedition with a lasting impact.

Cogan explains, "This EP evolved from the preparation of my live performance, yielding four distinctive tracks. A techno foundation infused with acid nuances, sculpted using MPC, Prophet Rev2, Tb-03, Korg Monologue, Sh 01-A, and Quasimidi Rave-o-lution 309. Departing from my recognizable house style, I aimed to present a facet of my musicality through these energetic compositions. My signature rhythmic dynamism and vivacious tones remain intact."

Trampoliner welcomes Israelian vibe connoisseur @roy-heyman for its 14th release. Roy is a DJ and producer hailing from the vibrant music scene of Tel Aviv. With a distinct musical signature, Roy's creations blend funky grooves and rhythms with the unique sounds of acid and underground house elements. His Trampoliner debut EP delivers just that and we could not be more happy to have him onboard. 

On remix duties, we have fellow Israelian Accent and N.O.Y delivering a dark, heavy and bumpy twist, to say the least, to the title track. For the second track, we have Mexican Vongold inviting us all to a deep, trippy journey through time and space.

Our compilation releases are a special occasion for us to showcase new names producing hot art but also old and well known friends from the label, and this year’s V.A. is certainly not an exemption. A sinister, and dancy whole.

The release is packed with mysterious vibes served by ANGE, Iba Boö delivering some masterfully crafted metallic voices, slow paced grooves by Robsn and faster cadence proposed by Karla Lynch. Eklektique takes us on an adventurous trip and Alda gets us on a clangorous yet melodic path.
We are very happy to have once again on the party Roliva with a tune full of Rock and Roll spirit and delightfully treated voices as well as Leonor and its mental proposal full of melodic jewels as usual.
