As so often the case, I conducted a jam session that took a couple of hours, during which I experimented with a vast amount of sounds, settings and samples, and recorded the stereo result in Audacity. In a posts-production step within Audacity, I extracted the best parts from that jam session in order to create this track. As always, I only used basic audio editing techniques like simple crossfades. Only a touch of soft limiting was applied, no elaborate approaches like mastering were used whatsoever. Thus, the result is raw and highly dynamic in nature, so put on your favourite headphones and turn up that volume knob, because the Loudness War is for losers!

In the last couple of jam sessions I tended to use other pre-recorded sounds and samples from mostly Youtube videos, which I always provided links for. In this particular jam session, I only used sounds and samples from my hardware. The beat comes from the Beatkangz Beat Thang, which also provided the looped string sounds that can be heard at the beginning. The synth pads come from the Arturia MicroBrute, fed through a couple of guitar pedals. The bass line, that is best heard between 3:41 and 4:15 comes from the MircroBrute's arpeggiator, which was fed and modulated through a couple of Eurorack modules, most prominently the LxD in conjunction with the Turing Machine.

As per usual, many defining sounds of this jam session were produced by my modest Eurorack, especially those ethnic sounds that came from the stock audio library of the Radio Music. Since my Eurorack almost always offers elements of surprise, I myself am often caught off guard by the sounds that come out of it. In this particular jam session, I could never have composed or created these intricate ethnic melodies. In that fashion, I am not a creator but merely a humble listener, like yourself.

Dissonance in music is not often accepted and yet it is part of every individual in the form of cognitive dissonance, a very interesting topic in social psychology.
In music, I have a certain pleasure in playing with this dissonance which brings, for my part, a complementary expression in the message that I construct, that I shape. This music thus delivers two opposites, the "pure" note and the "bastard" note, which when well orchestrated (if I may say so) ends up giving another dimension to the composition. I love this exercise which gives me the impression of being a cat that must constantly fall back on its paws, moreover the dissonance is a certain form of search for balance :-)

Der Song "Gott" von DIE STIMME VOM DACH handelt vom menschlichen Größenwahn, der sich letztlich überall auf der Welt zum Beispiel in Form von gigantischen Kulturdenkmälern und religiösen Kultstätten zeigt. Irgendwie scheint es in der Natur des Menschen zu liegen, immer gleich nach dem ganz Großen greifen zu wollen und zwar selbst dann, wenn ein wenig Demut und Bescheidenheit angemessener wäre. Ist das gesund? Ist das sinnvoll? Und was passiert eigentlich, wenn ein Mensch selber plötzlich ein bisschen "Gott spielen" möchte, um als Gott den menschlichen Größenwahn anprangern zu können. Ein schöner größenwahnsinniger Zirkelschluss. Hört mal her!
