Amazon rainforest

In the Australian winter, Pied Currawongs often form flocks and search out fruiting trees to raid. I set up my recording gear in front of a native Lilli Pilli tree in full fruit, and it was only a matter of time before the currawongs arrived and enjoyed one of their winter parties!

Just spent a lovely long weekend in the Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia. The first couple of days the weather was warm but windy, making recording difficult. But yesterday, the 1st of September was a perfect - 26 degrees celsius and no wind. Despite the chilly morning, the dawn birdsong was spectacular, as if the birds knew spring had arrived.

It was one of those rare times where all of the elements come together and make for a perfect soundscape - nothing to do with me or the recording gear - just pure nature at it's best. I'm going to make the recording into a album over the coming days - stay tuned!

The jungles of the Amazon are calm and still on a hot afternoon. There's a piercing insect chorus - frogs call occasionally - every now and then a bird chirps half-heartedly. Long version at https://youtu.be/l-v3GNgPR78

Lazy afternoon in the Amazon rainforest

The wolf pack you hear on the files are recorded in Sweden last summer. More specific in Bergslagen. An area with wonderful nature, forests and wilderness.

A quiet summer night, light fog over the moors in the forests you can hear this wonderful concerts. But you need to know where In Sweden, there are only around 35 wolf packs.

This pack consists of the alpha male and the female, three youngsters from last year and five puppies from this year.

On this first file, in a series, are the three youngsters from last year on their own. The distance between me and the wolf pack is around 175 yards / 160 meters. Between us is a moor with light fog. It is a wonderful nordic summer night with no wind.

This is one of my first recordings with a Telinga PRO-8 MK2 stereo parabolic dish connected to a ZOOM recorder. 
Recordings have some post production. 

The howling wolf in the picture is the alpha female of the pack.

This recording was captured right in front of my tent at a little after 5am on the side of the Chattooga River. The section I was camping near was very calm and saw many people fishing and tubing on the river each day. Luckily traffic was minimal this morning and I was able to record some pristine nature sounds!

Recorded with a Sony D100 on a tripod, sensitivity 10.
