Shielded Reasons

This is a live mic recording (taken from the centre of the cinema) of my first set at 'All is Joy' Soho in April 2024.
This Tuesdays Post event was using an incredible immersive sound rig run by Southby Productions, it was a 61 speaker D&B system hosted at All is Joy, Soho.
The female voices are: 
myself and Lucinda and her newborn baby Zola, recorded when she was only 10 days old. There's something so extraordinary in the sounds very young babies make, the fact that they have only been in existence for such a short time.. what does a baby think of their own sounds? 
The other quotes are from talks by Polly Higgins who sadly passed a few years back..  Polly was the driving force behind the now International movement, 'Stop Ecocide', which has, since her death, legally defined the word 'Ecocide', one step in the campaign to make big business accountable for the crime of polluting the Earth. 
I created this piece using harmony derived from 'Fratres' by Arvo Part. I had 54 or so channels of audio, with lots of subtle movements which are not easily discernible in a stereo recording, there's also some shuffling around the mic and Zola in the audience !
