It used to cause him pain
Oh boy, there he goes again
Thinking, this is such a sad state of affairs
Is Joe oblivious or just unaware?
        
Spilling his heart spilling is soul
And knowing full well it's leaving Joe cold
He agonised, analysed every phrase
Did what he could to tiptoe through the maze 

The years rolled on, and the more he wrote      
To pretend Joe was still listening, well that was just a joke
Apathy, oh apathy gone through the roof                     
But he's at one with himself, not running from the truth

In truth he finds it cathartic 
Juggling prose and finding the rhetoric 
Knowing he can box, box away that sadness
Even when  he knows Joe couldn't care less

Why should he worry, no one gives a monkeys 
Never suited him to be an attention seeking junky
He can let go, leave poor Joe in peace
Not seeking his approval for artistic release
