I wrote this song in 2018, inspired by the Opioid Epidemic in the USA, with so many kids dying around me and watching families in struggle. 

So many ideas were in my head for so long. I was specially trying to figure out how it is possible for a middle class kid get into drugs. I tried to be in their head; I ache picturing those baseball games, soccer practices, stable homes, and suddenly finding yourself alone, in the grip of the claws of addiction, losing it all because you can't escape.  

One day I heard "It's not me..., but it is actually me" and all the ideas, the pains, came together and wrote the lyrics in about 1 day. 

I wrote the music when I was 18-19 and I loved the progression. I always thought this music would make a good song.

Estaba dando vueltas a las historias de amigos, maestros, de que cuando llegan al otoño de la vida, voltean al pasado y no están muy orgullosos de algunas cosas que hicieron.

Pensé entonces que siempre ha sido así: vivimos entre recuerdos buenos y malos. 

Quería escribir una canción ranchera, y aunque tiene toques de, la música salió diferente (hay cosas que no puedo controlar cuando la canción me lleva la mano)

Wrote it to a very dear friend who was struggling and I couldn't do much to help.

Se acumularon muchos años de escuchar las terribles consecuencias de la "Guerra contra el Narco". Una pelea sin final en donde el gobierno mexicano ha expuesto a la sociedad a lacerantes tragedias: desaparecidos, desplazados, muerte. 

Criminales y gobierno trabajando en conjunto para secuestrar, para despojar al más débil de sus tierras..., el enemigo no es externo, somos nosotros mismos.

Dedico pues unas líneas a Sicilia , a los indígenas que cuidan sus bosques y sus ríos y que han sido asesinados, a las mujeres que sufren violencia y oídos sordos, a nuestras madres que lloran estrellas. 

Un día escuché la frase en inglés "dig a hole.." y eso disparó todos los versos. Escribí la letra en 2017, la música en 2018, y finalmente agregué la última estrofa en 2020.
