GRG - GERMAN REMIX GROUP

Wer in den Achtziger und Neunziger Jahren mit dem Computer groß geworden ist, der traf zwangsläufig durch Computerspiele und Demos auf unzählige Melodien. Sei es das 8-Bit-typischen Gepiepe und Gedudel des Commodore 64 SID-Chips oder die etwas weiter entwickelten Klänge des Amigas oder Atari ST. Oftmals zeichneten sich diese Melodien dadurch aus, dass ihre Autoren das Maximale aus den minimalen Mitteln der damaligen Computer herausholten und nicht selten bekam man diese Melodien nicht mehr aus dem Kopf.
Rund um diese klassischen Computersounds existiert heute die sogenannte “Retro-Remix”-Szene. Aus den Kindern und Jugendlichen von damals sind Erwachsene geworden und nicht selten machen diese heute selber Musik. Da liegt es nahe, die Ohrwürmer der Jugend neu aufleben zu lassen. Verbunden über das Internet lebt die Szene durch Webradios und auf Communities wie Remix64.com und OC Remix sowie durch Zeitschriften wie das Return Magazin immer weiter auf. Und auch wir, die German Remix Group, sind ein Teil dieser Szene.

Über Community-Websites, wie SLAY-Radio, Remix64 und Radio-Paralax fanden die Mitglieder der GRG zusammen. Als deutsche Retro-Remixer hatten wir die Idee neben unseren Soloprojekten auch gemeinsame Projekte auf die Beine zu stellen. Einen ersten Versuch starten wir bereits 2008, als wir unter Pseudonym PFP jeder einen Remix des Amigatitels “Time” veröffentlichten. Wer genau hinter den entsprechenden Remixes steckt, bleibt aber nach wie vor unser Geheimnis. Dem Engagement von CZ-Tunes ist es zu verdanken, dass die nach PFP einkehrende Ruhe nicht schon wieder das Ende der Idee war, gemeinsame Projekte zu realisieren. So erschien im Winter 2011/2012 unser erstes gemeinsames Album “a Tribute to Jochen Hippel”. Seit dem koordiniert sich die GRG über Facebook und freut sich, wenn weitere Remixer dazu stoßen. So wurde das Team beim zweiten Projekt “a Tribute to Jeroen Tel” um drei neue Mitglieder verstärkt.

Inzwischen haben wir unsere eigene GRG-Website und ein Ende ist nicht in Sicht.
