As I have been mixing the Cocoon in-house compilation for the last 9 years, I wanted to share all the episodes of this incredible adventure with you. From the very beginning up until today!

So here we go now with the second Compilation, I did for cocoon recordings 8 years ago, called ZWEI!

2006 was a simply fantastic year for Cocoon Recordings as we got huge releases like Guy Gerber – After Love, LOCO DICE– Carthago or Adam Beyer – Stereotypes, which were my personally fav´s.
But Extrawelt's – Titelheld or Dominik Eulberg's – Bionik were also high listed everywhere!

Over the last twelve months, the Cocoon Recordings crew has written another chapter of the German Tech House Book. With releases by Loco Dice, Dominik Eulberg or by shooting stars like Guy Gerber and Pig&Dan, we could celebrate some of the biggest records of 2006. 
Guy Gerber's "Sea of Sand", Eulberg's "Bionik" and Loco Dice's "Carthago" even belong to the absolute high-flyers, and with Fuckaponydelic's "Switch the Lights", the first big release of this year is also included. "ZWEI" continues where the first label revue "EINS" had stopped and will be anticipated particularly by fans and clubbers who don't have a record player anymore but have not completely switched to mp3 yet. 
A CD containing the best of the current Cocoon releases, compiled and mixed smoothly by CocoonClub's Next Generation host Chris Tietjen. 
Chris has advanced steadily since his CD debut and without doubt belongs to the top league of young Tech House and Minimal DJs. With more and more routine, he extends his national and international fanbase. 
Chris has developed into one of our best ambassadors and is a popular DJ who is capable of reflecting the Cocoon vibe and transporting the Frankfurt mood to the clubs. in this spirit... we feel the bassline!

This coming Saturday night the sounds of Berlin based imprint 50 Weapons will come to grace Room Two for the entirety of the evening's party proceedings. While it's kind of impossible to summarise the vibe across every single record the label has released, due to the huge scope of artists on their roster (which contains the likes of Shed, Marcel Dettmann, Addison Groove and even Thom Yorke's other project Atoms For Peace) ensuring that the spread of techno tinged music they've released has immense range to it. But,  what we can say for certain is that the 50 Weapons seal comes with a reputation as a mark for quality and to instigate movement on the dance floor. 

For the event in question the artists selected to rep this 50 Weapons feeling are some of our favourite; Room Two regular Cosmin TRG is set to return alongside A Made Up Sound as well as  Phon.o who this spring has dropped a pair of fresh EP's on his home label and who has also recorded this club focussed mix to show us what we can expect from his DJ set at the weekend. You can listen to that in the player below while we also have a quick catch up with evolving producer as we discover how Cracking Space Pts 1 & 2 marks a desire to set out Phon.o's true sound and finally work in a lifetimes worth of musical influences along the way.

Anjunadeep stalwarts Eli & Fur a.k.a Eliza Noble & Jennifer Skillman make a statement homecoming with the four track ‘Night Blooming Jasmine’ EP. The release sees the UK duo return to their songwriting roots - putting their voices front and centre, whilst blending their trademark rolling grooves with a refined production style.

“Our journey as club DJs has inspired us in so many ways and we wanted to draw from those experiences, as well as our more song-based tracks earlier in our career and make something a little different that means a lot to us artistically. We feel this EP merges these two worlds together and we hope that what you hear in these songs, is our love of song-writing as well as the darker, more melodic side of electronic music that tells stories and creates emotions.”

The title track is a brooding homage to Los Angeles, built around an infectious vocal hook and crisp percussive groove. As they explain “we wrote most of the lyrics while in the city and recorded the vocals in the studio out there so listening to it really takes us back. The smell, the lights, the skies and not wanting to leave. As well as that sense of how Hollywood used to be. The decadence of it all and the cracks under the surface of the American dream.”

The third Realm Of Consciousness compilation on Tale Of Us’ Afterlife Recordings is the label’s most complete statement so far.

The four-vinyl opus opens with Tale Of Us’ now anthemic ‘Nova’, a high-impact and well-loved staple of their sets this year. Agents Of Time continue with the percussive rattle of ‘Paradigm’, before the first released collaboration between luminaries Recondite and Henrik Schwarz shines with understated melody.

Amongst Mind Against’s eerie masterpiece ‘Portal’ and impressive first appearances on Afterlife from Scuba (as SCB) and Steve Rachmad (as Sterac) are ethereal contributions from Fideles, Ovend and Øostil. UK techno veteran Edit Select channels the darker, hypnotic spirit of Afterlife with ‘Phase In’, setting up the sprawling, 14-minute epic from Luigi Tozzi and Antonio Ruscito.

To begin the compilation’s fourth disc, Konstantin Sibold & Kosme’s ‘Cyclone’ lifts the tone, leading into a more introspective sound from Hunter/Game on ‘Changing Weather’. Upcoming German talent Kevin De Vries follows with his infectious cut ‘Mágoa’ and Tone Depth ends the odyssey in mesmerising style with ‘Ibn Sina’.

Tale Of Us - Nova

Masterful electronic artist @kink has revealed new music as kirilik - a fresh moniker for the lauded live performer. 

As kirilik, the artist uses one drum machine and three CD players to construct all his rhythms and musical layerings on the fly via a custom built sonic library of simple monophonic synth lines.

Ahead of his new release 'Infinity Is Not A Number' on Len Faki’s Figure imprint, kirilik has offered up a fresh taste of this ambitious new project with the EP cut 'Plumberphonic'.

Mid-June will see the release of M.A.N.D.Y.’s ‘Double Fantasy (The Club Versions), a dancefloor focused revisit to the 2016 LP.

With Patrick Bodmer now heading up M.A.N.D.Y. solo as the other member of the band Philipp Jung steps out on Sabbatical, the Berlin based artist and co-founder of the Get Physical imprint wanted to revisit the duo’s latest long player and stamp his own mark on things alongside co-producer of the entire project Dubspeeka. Patrick’s ear has always been direct towards the club sounds whereas Philipp’s always added the more eclectic home listening angle to their output, with this in mind here we see Patrick deliver ‘Double Fantasy (The Club Versions)’ and for the first time shining light on some of the collaborative artists who were involved in the project the first time round such as Booka Shade, Dubspeeka, Francesco Tristano and more.

Across the project we’re treated to the mystical and tripped-out styles you’d expect from M.A.N.D.Y with cuts like ‘Tomorrow Is Another Night’ feat. Jimmy Vallance of Bob Moses fame, who M.A.N.D.Y produced a nearly complete album with which got lost on a hard drive, this track is the only one which was saved on another computer and found its way to the album. There’s also cuts like ‘Rabbit Mountain’ which features LD Nero aka Alex Cortex’, ‘Housewife On Crystal’ and the Booka Shade collaboration, ‘Wandler (Rework)’ all employing the twinkling synth melodies, wandering atmospherics and a raw intensity which is always embodied in M.A.N.D.Y.’s material. Patrick also radiantly displays his darker dance floor prowess throughout also with tracks like ‘Hi End’ alongside Francesco Tristano & Nonki Phiri, ‘Outin (Rework)’ and the ‘Rhythm & Soul (Rework)’ produces alongside Brett Johnson & Red Eye all edging things towards a more hook driven, robust aesthetic aimed squarely at the dance floor.

M.A.N.D.Y. - DF - The Club Versions (Minimix)

Over the past four years, Hayden Payne aka Phase Fatale has earned a reputation as a techno innovator, both for the broad spectrum of dystopian electronics included in DJ sets as well as his deep understanding of synthesis and sound design in his own productions. Having previously released on labels such as Jealous God, Payne made his Unterton debut with last year’s Anubis EP. Since then he has settled into residences at both Berghain in Berlin and Khidi in Tbilisi, released his first LP on Hospital Productions and kicked off his own label BITE with a collaborative EP between himself and Silent Servant.

On his debut 4-track EP for Ostgut Ton, Reverse Fall, The New York native has sharpened the rhythmic contours of his productions, creating an imposing wall of sound within the techno framework. Inspired in part by Crash, J.G. Ballard's dystopian novel on the fetishization of car crashes, Reverse Fall is uncompromising motorized, cybernetic techno – infused with haunting soundtrack-like flourishes reminiscent of films by directors John Carpenter and Dario Argento.

A night drive accelerating at the pace of a dark, melodic bassline and distorted hi-hats. “Reverse Fall” is available across streaming platforms, as a single track and as an instant gratification download with the purchase of the full digital release.

A lot has happened in the last 20 years of dance music, but one constant has been Get Physical right at the sharp end of the scene. The label has become a globally recognised symbol of quality, renowned for its always varied and vital house output. Forming the backbone of the label's vast catalogue is the influential in-house DJ mix series, Body Language. It is a snapshot of exactly where the underground is at and has been assembled by tastemakers such as Azari & III, Catz ‘N Dogz, Dixon, DJ Hell, Francesco Tristano, Nôze and of course label-founders Booka Shade, DJ T., and M.A.N.D.Y..

Next to that there has been a constant stream of innovative, dance-floor ready singles, crossover club classics, seminal remixes and a number of standout artist albums. The label has always stayed true to its house roots, but with a rich array of influences taken from the worlds of disco, deep, tech and melodic house. Along the way, Get Physical´s core artists have been joined by red hot new talents including Alinka, Thandi Draai, PAUZA, Yulia Niko, Birds Of Mind, CIOZ and Monkey Safari. There have also been carefully considered forays into thriving house music scenes in Africa, Brazil, Cuba, Croatia and India: dedicated compilations and EPs have highlighted those region's most exciting new talents and given them a global platform. 

The name says it all: Get Physical tracks could hardly be more moving and corporeal. It was true in 2002, and it will be true in 2025 and beyond.
