Poker Flat Recordings welcomes back the ever-prolific Alex Niggemann for another speaker-troubling dispatch. This time out, the Aoen and Soulfooled boss drops a heavy-duty release that more than lives up to his usual high standards. 
'Materium' is epic in every sense of the word- a sprawling, tough journey into analog techno – with a dash of house thrown in. It rips through the speakers - the crisp and aggressive production provides the space for growling synths and atmospheric, tense pads. What’s more, the whole track audaciously dissolves into silence mid way through - before exploding back into life via a descending analog synth line. 
'Primary' is no less dramatic, but opts for a dubbier vibe as it builds and releases the ever-present tension. It’s hard, moody, electronic funk for after-hours basements and warehouses. 
Digital customers will also be able to pick up 'Bee' - which leans more to the house side of the fence with a playful, highly infectious groove and enough propulsion to move even the most tired of dance-floors.

Now into his second decade as a genre-bending producer and international touring DJ, Copenhagen-based Norwegian Mikkas Skuldstad serves up his latest release as Djuma Soundsystem - another tech-house gem from Steve Bug's Audiomatique stable.
'Momento' showcases his fine ear for unconventional combinations of tone and texture, as insistent stabs are married to a bassoon-like melody. Testimony to years of experience, its layers build up organically to work a subtle, sinuous, snake-charming hypnotism. 

On remix duty, Patrick Chardronnet adds a heavy bass wobble and droning layers that buzz with febrile energy. A hands-in-the-air section of scything synths unveils the original's latent power. This is heady, driving, relentless house music, burnished in its final minute by stirring orchestral strings. 

In 'Beatboxer', a crisp and crunchy rhythm loop underpins a wonderfully inventive high-definition groove. Layers of tribal percussion are added to the reverberating mix on a musical odyssey that more than merits its 10-minute running time.

German duo Monkey Safari make a rare step away from their own
Hommage label for a vital debut on Get Physical Music.

For the best part of the last decade now, Lars Rühlemann and Sven Fröhlich AKA Monkey Safari have been serving up a quirky and curious take on house music that has brought real character to the dance floor. They have put out three absorbing full lengths as well as almost thirty EPs, and have made their Hommage label a vital one in the process.

Here they open their account with the excellent ‘Mantra,’ a propulsive house track with humid, jungle-like atmospheres, woodblock hits and elastic bass that really builds the pressure. It’s a warm and absorbing affair brimming with charm.

The perfectly hypnotic ‘Tollo’ then establishes another enchanting groove, this time with spoken word vocals intoxicating you further as the rubbery drums and soft, fat hits get you deeper into the groove.

This is perfect late night dance music for intimate parties and escapist
