Legendary DJ, vocalist and producer Roland Clark kicks off Get Physical’s 2018 release schedule with a stunning new single that has also been edited by Ant LaRock.
From featuring on Fatboy Slim releases like ‘Star 69 (What the Fuck)’ and ‘Song for Shelter’ via involvement in Armand Van Helden’s ‘Flowerz’ and more recently with Katy Perry on ‘Swish Swish’ to writing lyrics for everyone from Todd Terry to Roger Sanchez, Clark has made many key contributions to dance music. In the past, he has used the aliases Jesus Jackson, Digital Pimps, Dark Clark, South Street Player, and also founded Urban Soul. He runs his own Delete Records and has worked with Defected, Strictly, Shelter, King Street and many other legendary labels.
His latest is another instant classic. ‘House Will Survive’ has insistent drums with an impassioned monologue from Clark up top. It talks about the enduring appeal of house as silky percussion and ditty bass stabs oil the groove. It’s one to command vast dance floors or cosy clubs alike and will bring everyone together as one.
Editing is Ant La Rock, whose first ever house track was picked up by Todd Terry's InHouse Records and instantly propelled him to stardom. He’s since worked with everyone from Snoop Dogg to Giorgio Moroder and his subtle edit here amps up the energy levels, layers in tougher synth stabs and pairs back to vocal to fiery little stabs.
This is a devastating new single that is sure to rule clubland in early 2018 and beyond.

It starts without rush. Natural sounds, soft pads, a diverse soundscape, open minded. Then the bass is coming in - straight and loud. A mixture of organic and electronic music, a mixture of old and new - welcome at the “Ancient Lake“, so clear and colorful. We are invited by Jonas Saalbach, a well known Live Act and producer from Berlin. On his first album he combines melodies and dancefloor elements, hard bass lines and story telling instruments.

We’ll find tracks grown with time on the album. Some are based on classical techno styles like “Driven By Madness feat. MZ Sunday Luv“ and “Hammada“. Others are made for listening and dreaming like “Thinking Of You“ and “June Gloom“. You can feel the spirit of summer in every number, the desire for adventures in the nature, the energy of the sun. Jonas Saalbach presents his summary of a year full of travels and studio nights. His cooperations with Paul Klatt for example, are an important part of his work. Berlin is a big playground for him with a lot of inspiration every day and so the album is like a story board of life, a perfect starter for a new season, energetic and unstoppably creative.

The DIRTYBIRD crew havent even had time to take their counsellor uniforms to the dry cleaners post-Campout, but already theyre dishing out more bulletproof slabs of future-flexed acid house.

Will Clarke mans the controls: Making his Dirtybird debut in January with "Badness" on DIRTYBIRD 10, follwing up with "The Boogie Woogie" EP and lazer-snapping "808Frenzy" on "DIRTYBIRD BBQ - Grill$ons Revenge" collection, the bristly Bristol-based spandex enthusiast has enjoyed a beautiful summer with releases on Defected, Emerald City and Turbo and unforgettable shows across the US, Australia and Europe.

Returning to the label with the bulbous two-track EP "Turn It Up," Clarke does just that: Writhing in carnal groove simplicity, he taps into the roots of timeless, low-down, butt-wriggling house music with three obscene examples of strong-armed tech funk. "Can You Funk" punches with Breach-level hookiness, and Turn It Up does the loopy-loop with Dirtybirds trademark vocal trippiness. 

Keep it turned: Will Clarke has been one of 2015s most exciting and authentic house music success stories. We can thank DIRTYBIRD for that. Stay tuned for more very soon...

Will Clarke - Turn It Up

Fresh out of the nest, our latest release comes from the upstart German/English combination called, Maximono. The Hanover/London based protagonists Sebi and Nick come correct, armed with bouncing basslines and erupting big room aesthetics on “Sorry,' their debut release with the DIRTYBIRD family.  

This weirdo A/B side was one of the main highlights of Claude VonStroke’s recent epic set at the famed Desert Hearts festival up in the cold mountains of Southern California. On the lead track “Sorry,” a hard-ass kick drum sets the pace before a descending drop reveals oscillated, whistling melodies and skipping marching beats, making way to a jittery breakdown.  It’s hard to imagine making these tracks without being slightly insane, with razor sharp square-wave bass attacking the feet with vigour and funked-out energy. 

On the flip, 'So Hot', winding drums and bleeping FX create an off kilter booty rhythm, while a sassy vocal stab proclaims it's 'so hot!,' before the drop brings a cheeky, chirpy bottom heavy wobbler, flanked by neuron tingling melodic lines. 

It's all in a days work for us here  - and unlike young Maximono, we're NOT sorry for unleashing this latest beast. Enjoy!

MAXIMONO - So Hot [PREVIEW]

Last year I put a Bruno Furlan track on our 10 year compilation without really knowing anything about him. But later that year I went to Brazil and met him in person. I have to say I rarely meet a young producer with so much pure, good-hearted enthusiasm as Bruno Furlan.  This young man is so happy and eager I found it impossible not to like him. (I even met his lovely parents…twice!) This always goes a long way at DIRTYBIRD but of course it still comes down to the music. 

Bruno Furlan has captured a very simple, VERY funky sound that is really special in my opinion.  The beats are huge yet nothing is over the top, everything is quirky and bumpy and very much what i like to play.  The  samples are all slightly odd and placed in very particular spots in the pocket so that the beats really ride. You can feel the funk oozing out of these tracks. I give it all high marks. The big track is “K.O.” but all of them have different charms for different situations. I urge you to please check out this new talent from Brazil!

Simply put, The Sound: V.1 is a continuous DJ mix that celebrates the music of Loot Recordings, but it’s so much more. It’s a mix that celebrates the two year anniversary of Loot Recordings. For this special occasion, we tapped our good friend and label mate Markus Mehta to do the honors and gave him the keys to the entire Loot Recordings catalog. The end result is his vision of a label catalog DJ mix that is 60 plus minutes of dance floor mayhem that swings from the deep, melodic sounds to the fist pumping techno rhythms. Imagine yourself on your favorite dance floor, lost in the music, carried away by the strobes and underneath the disco ball.

Based in Munich, Markus Mehta has been dedicated to dance music for more than a decade and is an ambassador for what he’s dubbed “electronic soul”. His original productions and remixes pay homage to the motherland of Detroit techno, but also features the quirkiness of Kraftwerk and spiritual sounds of India.

The mix features eleven cuts from the Loot Recordings discography, starting with the endless summer vibes of “Apartment Figueretas” by Alex van Ratingen which segues into the throbbing rhythm of the label’s first release, “Find My Way Back” by Kered. From there, things pick up steam with the blistering grooves of “Music” by Alec Chizhik & Markus Mehta, “Mirari” by Karasho and the robot funk of Machino’s remix of “Sober” by Charles Blossfeldt. Things continue to wind up with additional selections by Robin Fett and TRU., all ending with the deep thrills of Dana Ruh’s remix of “Apartment Figueretas” by Alex van Ratingen.

The team at Underground Audio are very excited to welcome Ovidi Adlert to the family with his four track whopper “90s Movement” EP. With his roots in Valencia, Spain, Ovidi is a household name in the tech-house industry. With continued support from the biggest names in the game, and a stupendous catalogue of highly ranking music, he has gained a formidable place within the genre. This month, we are proud to present four original tracks from Ovidi that are jam packed with energy. 

Opening with the EP’s namesake “90s Movement”, the name immediately begins to make sense. Featuring sounds truly reminiscent of the 90s era, the track offers big kicks, drum-machine inspired percussion, and hip-hop vocals that pack attitude. A heavy bassline pushes through the track, resonating and adding more intensity, making this track a hard-hitting weapon. 

Following in second is “Allright”, which mirrors the in-your-face intensity of the former. Aggressive bass patterns topped with 90s inspired synths and vocal snaps give this track a distinctive underground feel. Adding an unmistakeable 90s shuffle and signature acid synth, the third track “Freedom” introduces a more stripped-back beat, with the easily recognisable words of Martin Luther King complimenting the deep, low slung bass. 

Closing the EP is “Look At That Funk”, a fast-moving, funky, tech-house roller. Still bringing through the signature attitude of the tracks in this EP, this energetic number rolls through a rollercoaster of tension throughout the track. Suspended synths and hypnotic buildups complimented by powerful drops gear this track perfectly for the big warehouse raves.

A lot has happened in the last 20 years of dance music, but one constant has been Get Physical right at the sharp end of the scene. The label has become a globally recognised symbol of quality, renowned for its always varied and vital house output. Forming the backbone of the label's vast catalogue is the influential in-house DJ mix series, Body Language. It is a snapshot of exactly where the underground is at and has been assembled by tastemakers such as Azari & III, Catz ‘N Dogz, Dixon, DJ Hell, Francesco Tristano, Nôze and of course label-founders Booka Shade, DJ T., and M.A.N.D.Y..

Next to that there has been a constant stream of innovative, dance-floor ready singles, crossover club classics, seminal remixes and a number of standout artist albums.
