Jugurtha is a project to reconcile East West South and North through music & ideas. Beginning by enshrouding mid-to-late twentieth century Middle East & Barbarian legends with silky smooth modern electronic music.

Creating a wide new musical landscape grasping together traditional & modern instruments, voices, old recordings, and contemporary techniques…

Pushing their artistic thirst ever further, they’ve put together a live show accompanied by well-established musicians, with the will to give greater depth to their upcoming first electro-taraab music album « Orientation » at Because Music France & Khayyam (EP) at Underyourskin (DE) on stage its an oriental electronic live band with instruments such as drums, guitar, santur, darbouka, oud ravanhatta, ney, & more…

Getting Deeper Live Sessions #3 with Jugurtha (Full Band)

For our 8th Podcast, we have a special guest mix from Moعen, Cairo based DJ and Producer, who were fortunate enough to cross paths whilst in Amman. This podcast is entitled Seeds of Tomorrow, featuring some downtempo Middle Eastern jams, as well as some sounds and field recordings from Zaatari Refugee Camp.

"Seeds Of Tomorrow is a special set made for Zaatari Radio station that broadcasts from Zaatari. 

I have been involved for the past 3 years with the camp through a documentary film called Tiny Souls directed by Dina Naser. In the set I added some bits and sounds as samples from the film.

Tiny Souls is about 9 years old Syrian girl,Marwa who stranded with her family in AL Zaatari Refugee camp. The director follows Marwa's life in the camp where she blossoms from being a child to becoming a young woman.

Some might ask do Refugees need electronic music in their life's my own answer would be yes and music in general, I believe if one day 1% of those refugees became a musician, a dj, maybe film maker, or an artist in general that would be a great. To influence such souls is a great success, the best tool to tell a story is through art.

This one is Ethnic with middle east instruments and sounds supported by very special beats.

About

Lebanese-born and Spanish-bred Mario Bazouri grew up listening to everything from Michael Jackson to George Michael to Prince. He discovered electronic music in the early 90s in the South Coast of Spain when working as a PR at a Spanish disco-bar that played Spanish Bacalao (Techno).

Making a move to Dubai, he helped define the club scene by organizing and promoting “DEEP NIGHTS” that welcomed Danny Tenaglia, Armand Van Helden, John Digweed, Erick Morillo and many more to the city. Today, apart from being a highly rated Black Belt Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Practitioner and Competitor, he’s now on the other side of the ticket line, as a DJ & Producer and has become a frequent player in some of Dubai’s finest underground parties, earning
himself residencies in Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE, The Hatch Dubai, Disconekt Dubai, Playa Padre Marbella & Momento Club Marbella.
Inspired by Dixon, Trikk, Denis Horvat, Santiago Garcia, &ME, Rampa and Patrice Baumel just to name a few, his sound is shot through with a rock-solid groove that consists of infectious percussions, Ethnic vibes and dark melodic synths. Music Production came next where he has signed to Sudam Recordings, Exotic Refreshment & Voyeur Music, and is expecting quite a few new releases before end of the year.
During his career behind the decks, he’s warmed-up and shared the decks with many International Underground Talents.
