ATL051 sees the long awaited Atlant appearance of rising Balkan star Coeus a huge talent making serious waves ever since his wondrous Eden' graced Realm of Consciousness IV.

Now an Afterlife mainstay with 2020 EP Beyond Dreaming' and recent work on both UNITY releases Coeus has gone from strength to strength, delivering major productions for the likes of Øddity, Vivrant, Multinotes, MoBlack, Radikon and now BOg's Atlant.

Intense title track Alea' kicks off with a deep dark cavernous groove before the stirring melody enters, working its way deep into your mind. Coeus uses the breakdown to increase tension, cranking up the dial as a driving bass-line and crashing beats are released for maximum impact. A highlight of the recent Tale of Us open air Atomium set Alea' is guaranteed to feature in many important DJ playlists.

Walking In Reverse' sees Coeus tug deep on the listeners heart strings through sumptuous melodic synths and a beautiful arpeggiated hook. Expertly crafted and arranged, there is a maturity in composition with a tasteful less-is-more approach allowing the melodies to take centre stage. Perfect for later on in a set Walking In Reverse' won't leave a dry eye in the house.

Final cut Vita' showcases a different side to Coeus. Here the broken beats and rousing sub-bass serve as the foundation against which Coeus layers his synths and floating arp lines. Vita' could be the soundtrack to a sci-fi epic exploring the outer regions of the galaxy and your mind, as the beats ride out with the listener yearning for more.

There can be no denying Sergio Muñoz, aka Fur Coat. Now a native of Barcelona, his Venezuelan roots are a reminder of South America’s ever-increasing contribution to the world of electronic music. The fact he has, and continues, to be at the forefront of this Latin surge is testament to his skill and creativity.

It’s also the reason why his relationship with Renaissance continues to endure. With three singles and an album to their collective name, they now join forces once again to present the diverse Dystopia EP.

Dystopia itself is the definition of everything a title track should stand for; a heady mix of Fur Coat’s consistent ability to marry a memorable riff with effortless, production cool. “My intention was a catchy hook that played along with the sub bass,” he confirms, “evoking the classic Renaissance era, but with a modern, yet timeless vibe.” 

To ensure every drop of creative juice was wrung from the track, Sergio and Renaissance invited Musumeci and Dodi Palese to remix it in their unique, indie style. “We were instantly drawn to ‘Dystopia’s’ infectious riff and specifically wanted to celebrate that element,” they explain. 

The EP is completed by Solitary Road, which shifts a stylistic gear into the world of electronica. “It’s been great to see the return of atmospheric breaks in recent years and I really wanted to produce something that would be a worthy entry into the genre,” Sergio humbly explains, “so my focus was once again on the all-important melodies with detuned chords and catchy riffs.”

'The 31st release of the label comes out of the hands of the Greek Antimatter Particle and is called ‘Gloomy Winter’. The EP includes three minimalistic and dark melodic techno originals, with emphasis on techno. Besides, we are happy to announce Heîk is contributing to this EP with an energetic and more melodic orientated remix.

The first track of the EP is also the title track, called ‘Gloomy Winter’. The icy and dark vibe, which is sensible throughout the full EP, immediately comes forward. With tight and minimalistic percussion elements Antimatter Particle is giving a rapid groove to the track. On top of this groove, lingered pads and atmospheric synths are laid down.

‘Floating’ is the banging second track. The lower part is a bit heavier and is giving a lot of groove and body to the track. The cold synth work is a nice example of eccentric sound design. Combined with the mysterious background percussion, it results in a very compelling composition.

The third track of the EP is called ‘Tar’. In the track the compelling vibe evolves to captivation. Founded by an acidy lower part, the ethereal pads are taking you to another dimension, where they keep you until communicating synths are taking over in the breaks. Together those elements are setting a haunting mood.

The final track is Heîk’s remix of ‘Tar’. He took the compelling parts and main melody of the original and built his own world around them. The remix has a lot of energy with an ongoing flow. On top of this flow, interesting sound designs are taking shape, providing unexpected moments. Sometimes it makes you think twice about what you are hearing. So, HeÎk closes the EP in a dynamic and powerful way.'
