This hard hitting, tech house track is built on an atmosphere of raw, industrial soundscapes and plunging drops. Exciting new production outfit Customer makes their EP debut on mobilee, as the collaborative project of childhood friends Alan Fitzpatrick and Reset Robot takes flight.

Both heavyhitters in their own right, Fitzpatrick is one of the scene’s leading techno artists; a behemoth on Drumcode, along with being the latest artist to be tapped to mix fabric’s esteemed compilation series, while Reset Robot (AKA Dave Robertson) remains one of the scene’s most outstanding production assets, co-producing and engineering many of Drumcode’s biggest tracks, together with being a regular on Truesoul.

Together, they wanted to try something different, however. The latest artists to join Anja Schneider’s mobilee – a label renowned for giving its artists creative breadth – Customer showcases the duo in a different light to the big room, main stage personas the pair has built up over decade long careers. 

Their manifesto is to explore the deeper, more atmospheric corners of house and techno and across two exquisite cuts on their mobilee debut, the pair’s intentions are realised. ‘Thirteen’ is lilting and beautiful, almost shoegazy if you discount its driving dancefloor appeal. No wonder it was a favourite of Schneider’s from the moment she first heard a freshly mastered demo last August. ‘Magic Number’ is seven minutes of delicious melodic funk; lush yet unassuming and the kind of track you could imagine soundtracking one of those superb morning set moments where the dancefloor is weepy for all the right reasons. 

The release of ‘Thirteen’ marks an auspicious month for Customer, who’ll make their mobilee gig debut at the crew’s Fact Music Pool series event on June 16 during Off Week in Barcelona.

Kompakt regular and veteran techno stalwart, Gunjah, puts his signature dark and brooding touch on Matthew Heyer's latest single with Grace Ackerman. 'Fire'. Far removed from the original, Gunjah takes the vocals and turns the track into a peak-time banger. The extended intro is driven by skiffling beats and pitched down vocals whilst the deep bassline that emerges is sure to shake many a bass bin. The furious snare hits emulate a barrage of gunfire that helps lead the track into a dreamy breakdown, before launching back in with screeching, heavily-filtered synths that will be a sure fire weapon for any DJ, producer or raver.

It’s the pre-squeeze leading up to the big release. Mobilee presents this double-track treat on both vinyl and digital. 

The A-side tears it up with „Hartwood“, Rodriguez Jr.’s biggest hit to date. With a series of alternating and repetitive keyboard strokes and soulful lyrics bouncing on a thick velvet cushion of rich background base, this number is guaranteed to appeal to the industry’s most respected players. Already landing on the hard drives of Pete Tong, Laurent Garnier and Simian Mobile Disco “Hartwood” has gained a bit of airtime as loyal listeners burn for the final release date.

The B-side features Anja Schneider with a full out female power vocal number ironically titled, “Henry & Lars”. This track takes form from a very cuddly story that took place at BPM Festival in Mexico as Anja’s little guy and a stuffed animal named “Lars” found love and friendship in a little girl and her stuffed-animal she called “Henry”. And so the story went on…
