Never standing still or dwelling on past successes, GURU are back once again, taking us down yet another un-trodden path with their new release from Tony Romera. The young but highly acclaimed French producer keeps the energy cranked but injects “All I Want” with bags of ghetto-funk to create a vibrant and unique club strut.
Snapping rhythms and shuffling drums get us underway before a huge rolling bassline powers its way into the mix alongside lyrically fluid vocals. The bassline provides the backbone of the entire track, laying down the relentless forward momentum and a heavy, 4am warehouse vibe. As it throngs forward with the weight of a jumbo jet, the bass catches the dancefloor up in a swirl of mechanics and FX that sends the track into overdrive. Hip-hop style vocals add real flavor and character to the tune, just as ominous tones in the background bring the intensity and sense of drama.
GURU’s last three releases have really highlighted the dexterity of the label, all pushing a totally different sound but maintaining that astonishingly high quality. Tony Romera’s “All I Want” is another example of how GURU consistently takes things to the next level.

Having recently played an eight hour set to a sold-out crowd at London’s Oval Space, the prolific Dusky drop a trio of moody club tool tracks on 17 Steps as they continue their European Autumn/Winter tour.

A club tool in the most effective sense, lead track ’Lydia’ is dark, nagging acid groover that builds and builds throughout its 6 hypnotic minutes. With all the melodic material based around the Lydian scale, ‘Lydia’ was originally inspired by a bizarre, trippy dream Alfie had in which everything was all based on the Lydian scale.

A homage to classic techno, ‘Bitter Lake’ is a hard-hitting surge of looping, percussive energy and Detroit-nodding rave stabs that build to a hoover-fuelled breakdown release.

Rounding off the trio, the brilliantly titled and uniquely composed ‘Infinite Libido’ again explores Dusky’s more percussive tendencies and has been a regular feature in their DJ sets for the past year.

This is the first track taken from the upcoming release "I Just Can't EP" by Art Of Tones. 

You can always trust Ludovic Llorca. Once a year he locks himself in his studio and works the magic which results in a Local Talk release. His previous releases on Local Talk, The Same Thing (”classic proto house-meets-baggy US garage vibe”) The Rainbow Song (”It sounds like an underground summer anthem in waiting.”) are LT classics and now, Ludo returns with a third release, I Just Can’t EP.  While some producers struggles with new ideas, trying to re-invent the genre Ludo sticks to what he knows best.
