Combining a host of established and emerging talents under a seasonal banner, the "Winter Particles 2019" compilation once again showcases the wealth of global talent found in the underground dance arena. Eleven tracks now represent the very best in progressive and melodic house and techno.

Opening the winter selection box, Greek sensation, Savvas, reminds listeners of his attention to detail and melodic prowess through "Mindfulness", while dub.format and Pedro Capelossi and NOIYSE PROJECT hit the ground running with impressive low-end theory as "Mentalist" and "Myth in Manus" combine huge bass prowess with delicate melodic touch.

German star, Wisqo demonstrates why he has been such a hit with the likes of Lump Music and Pipe and Pochet with the elegantly crafted "Limitless" before Kynan Cosma takes a break from his new Sense of Mind moniker to carve out a rasping bass gem and Moog inspired melody in "Sequent" that Bodzin himself would be proud of. Notable for its middle eastern vocal flourishes, E.F.G. then combines a strong rhythmic backdrop and sumptuous chord progressions in "Days and Nights".

Veteran, Rick Pier O'Neil, rarely disappoints and "Shining" is no exception to an ever-growing catalogue of prized jewels, with its dynamic energy, bass prowess and sparkling lead motif keeping the French artist firmly on point. Bosnian, Youngen, immediately impresses with the exquisitely crafted and emotive "Atlantis" that explodes into a chorus of counterpoint motifs.

Argentina's very own Nicholas Van Orton continues his distinctive groove-laden approach to his craft through "Siete Dioses" as haunting melodies and guitar phrasing play a central role in a mesmerising track. Colombian Dabeat departs from fellow countryman and regular collaborator, Kamilo Sanclemente, to shine brightly on a solo outing, "Beyond the Stars", as gated synths and stepped arpeggio present a strong representation of the title and pitched and warped melodies bend space and time. Continuing the outer space theme, Neptun 505 closes the compilation with a shimmering affair that finds a twinkling lead motif illuminating the "Light of a Non-Existent Star" in an iridescent glow, backed by dominant beat, richly textured pads and ticking percussion.

Eleven tracks brightly lit in winter sun gives Particles a crisp, clean edge for its early 2019 collection.

Ewan Rill & K Loveski are no strangers to The Soundgarden. After their star turn on the label’s Winter Collection in 2019 and an appearance on Nick Warren’s acclaimed Balance compilation, the dynamic duo make their full debut on The Soundgarden with their swaggering three-track EP, ‘Made in Goa’.

The title track serves as the opener, bringing with it a deceptively catchy refrain and a veritable melee of sharp kicks and cracking snares. It’s an up-tempo offering from the pair and one that sets the mood for an EP that’s guaranteed to keep you grooving until we’re able to hit the dancefloors again. 
‘Chamundi’ is up next, and with it comes a pulsating bass line and an airy synth sound that leads into a tantalisingly teased – and beautifully constructed – drop. It’s then left to ‘Napud Chamra’ to finish proceedings, and it does so with a magnificent combination of melodic flair, spoken word samples, and timeless House beats. It’s a stylish end to a stunning EP and another stellar release from Warren’s globe-straddling The Soundgarden label and events brand.

The latest release from Nikko.Z's Dopamine White finds Lio Q and Nicolas Leonelli collaborating on a new EP. The Argentinean duo have been frequent studio partners since first pairing in November of last year with a release on Just Movement. Subsequent outings on Deepwibe Underground, One Of A Kind and Strangers Beats have made them one of progressive music's duos to watch. Now debuting on Dopamine White Lio and Nicolas present their 'Red Forest' EP. 

Spread across two tracks it's the tough yet bouncy mood of the title selection which leads the release off. Punchy beats and nicely sculpted bass unite for a powerful low end, while trippy vocal fragments and metallic percussion advance the narrative. Haunting overlays lead into the main break as a luminous arp rises to prominence. Undeniably progressive, its emotive quirks play off a backdrop of cinematic pads, before perfectly shifting energy into a powerful drop and groovy finale.

'Fairywren' follows suit with its driving bass lines and darker undertones. Robust rhythms carry the muscular foundation, while neatly tailored percussion and playful arps sweep across the stereo field. Energy and tension continue to rise, as placid pads and wispy effects segue into an expansive break. Clocking in at nearly two minutes in length, the centrepiece melts down to a quiet calm, offering a tranquil headspace for a gentle build and pulsating final movement. A gorgeous production from Lio Q and Nicolas Leonelli, who continue to build a great partnership with their Dopamine White debut.
