Dynamic UK duo Him_Self_Her are back on the essential Crosstown Rebels with another bumping deep house burner ‘Love You Like I Used To’ once again featuring the distinctive vocal chops of Kieran Fowkes who also appeared on previous Crosstown hit ‘Gone Too Long’ (which spent 11 weeks at the top of the Beatport chart). Featuring a tough and distorted remix from hot property Francesca Lombardo and the driving cosmic force of UK disco darlings Psychemagik on the flip, this is a house track for the peak season of al fresco hands-in-the-air dancefloors.

Claire and Leon aka Him_Self_Her have been producing together since 2012 when they hit it off on a musical level during their formative time on the local house scene in Leicester. All that it took was one studio session to realise the potency of their union and their genre blending productions showcase a range of deep grooves and disco infused techno with a human heart. With their breakthrough release ‘Gone Too Long’ sparking the attention of none other than Pete Tong, he promptly made it his Essential New Tune and support followed from heavyweight DJs such as Jamie Jones. Next releases came on Elite Records and OFF Recordings.

The classically trained, multi-talented Francesca Lombardo is one of the most successful artists of this era on Crosstown Rebels and with several shimmering releases for the label including ‘What To Do’ and the ‘Changes EP’, Francesca has amassed a sizable global following, entranced by her live instrumentation and vocal performances alongside the Rebels at events such as Get Lost and Day Zero, as well as the worlds dance music meccas DC10, fabric and Panorama Bar.

Undoubtedly two of the biggest stars of 2012, Danny McLewin and Tom Coveney aka Psychemagik are partly known for their prolific output of remixes but first appeared on Crosstown Rebels with a killer original release ‘Black Noir Schwarz’ back in March. Avid vinyl collectors and masters of the re-edit, the duo has released an impressive array of highly acclaimed releases as well as highly-lauded compilations, such as the self-released ‘Diabolical Synthetic Fantasia’ and last years superb ‘Magik Sunrise’.

November 2017 auf @einmusika-recordings. Der Leipziger DJ und Produzent hat innerhalb von zehn Monaten 20 Tracks kreiert, die sich im weiten Tech- und Techno-Feld austoben und von denen es final zehn aufs Album schafften – emotional, mysteriös, sphärisch und dunkel. Super Flu proudly welcome two highly respected artists they've been keeping tabs on for some time now: BOg and Remcord. Hailing from France and Romania respectively, between the two of them they've worked on some of the most on-point labels imaginable: Style Rockets, Innervisions, Diynamic, Bedrock, Atmosphere. Now, for their collaborative debut, it's time to tell some sonic stories Monaberry style… And they do so in luxuriant, restrained and interstellar style.

'Ajei' sets the tone. Misty and mystic; a palpitating sub and kick is enshrouded with humanised textures as synth lines entwine with arpeggiated magic. One of those tunes that creeps up on your crowd without them realising; when everything breaks down and the story truly unfolds they'll be hooked, lined and sinkered to the very end. 

We move deeper into the two rising artists' sense-arresting world and strike groove gold with 'Roba'. Subtly funky with an alluring vibe that hits you just above the hips, keep your ears out for those soaring dreamy pads in the background as they pull the whole shebang together in a breath-taking way. 

Finally we take a deep dive into a shimmering pool of rippled synths on 'The Rest Of Us'. A timeless piece of emotional techno that spirals starwards as more dreamy layers are added softly and subtly. Like all the best things in life, this one gets better the later in the night you play it. 

Three immaculate moments of immersivity from two impressive artists we suspect will return to Monaberry in the near future. Warp up warm….

To Be - Everybody (Melokind Remix) (Lochmann Records)

Turkish electronic producer Omerar Nanda essentialy takes music as one of the central themes of his life and, rooted in the sounds and philosophies of a new tecnological and social era, he certainly did not skimp on the effort to incorporate traditional ethnic folk rhythms into a contemporary electronic music. 

For his downtempo debut EP whose title come from the made-up word 'Soulve' (soul+solve), he is pointing out the moot fact that no one really knows about soul clearly, even tough we know is forever changing. Then, by this line of reasoning, this three-track package shows off his own perspective about the soul's unresolved riddle. 

A meticulous instrumentation background featuring tempting voices, mesmerizing cadences and a huge sense of connection, briefly describe this rich piece of work that even the most distracted listener won't be able to deny; we cannot ignore this calling.

Hommage is the record label of Monkey Safari and Karl Friedrich. Founded in 2013, Hommage has been a platform for independent releases, with a focus on synergies between like-mined artists. 

The next Hommage release comes from Avidus, an up-and-coming duo from Kiel, Germany, consisting of Fritz Wagner and Marc Wolf. While Fritz was working on his own music, Marc was busy djing and throwing parties, inviting the likes of  me, Marcus Worgull, and Roman Flügel. At some point their paths crossed and Avidus was born. Expect to hear more from this exciting and talented new act on Hommage!

Marino Canal has carved his own staple sound in the techno scene through a stream of solid releases. His productions are best described as organic, hypnotic and melancholic, so is his beautiful remix of ‘Ruins’.
