Back in 2010, Gilles Peterson recorded a special Brownswood Basement show focusing on the evolution of drum & bass through the 90s and into the 00s. It was by no means a comprehensive history of the genre, but it did represent an excellent snapshot of the tunes that struck a chord with Gilles back then. 100% vinyl (and acetates), Gilles spent the best part of a day rummaging through hundreds of records and picked out around 40 then @alex-patchwork got deep in the mix. Part 1 dropped last week, and here is Part 2 that made up that show - no links, jingles or drops - just the music. We hope you enjoy it.

D&B Special Part 2 (2010)

DJ Fluid started DJing back in high school in 1989, digging deep into music and building a record collection that’s been growing ever since. What began with mixtapes and school parties soon turned into gigs across Moscow, the CIS, and later throughout Europe. By the mid-90s, he’d fully stepped into the club scene and never really looked back.

His sound — which he calls underground dance music — blends raw grooves, deep rhythms, and leftfield cuts. It’s never about just playing tracks, but telling a story and reading the room in real time. From warm-ups to peak hours, he creates sets that keep people moving without chasing trends.

Beyond DJing, he threw his own parties and was part of the original Kazantip crew — helping shape one of the most iconic electronic music events to come out of the post-Soviet space. He’s been behind the decks and behind the scenes, always chasing something fresh.

Now based in Barcelona, DJ Fluid’s still exploring, still collecting, and still playing for the heads who get it.
After that he established his own DJ school with it's apprentices and followers. Uncommon approach to music selection based on his own sence of art without taking in account charts and bestsellers gives Fluide Onze a great possibility to form an inimitable playlist with it's unique sound. He makes a vibrations on a dance floor by his professionalism as a DJ, but not by just mixing a vinyls one after another, voluntarily giving prerogative to play "hits" to other DJs. 

His performance is ornamented with Pioneer EFX-1000 and RMX-1000 effect processors and other innovative technologies. He played at one stage with such DJ and musicians as Trentemoller, David Penn, D. Ramirez, Chris Scott, Matthew Dekay, DJ Slacker, Barry Gilbey, DJ Quest. As a guest he performed at radio shows on Megapolis FM, DFM (Moscow), NSB, PURE FM, KISS FM etc. At the moment he is combining his tour activity and producing at his studio, where he works on new tracks and remixes.
