Based in Helsinki, Finland, the cross-disciplinary platform and record label World Canvas is a hub that has been hosting over the last couple of years serious waves of experimental music in the form of conceptual post-club, glitching ambiance, and disrupted emotionalism. On their catalog have appeared cutting-edge musicians such as luxxuryproblems, Helena Pulkkinen, and Comastasis, while the visual identity is entrusted to the stunning skills and creativity of Gabriel Boicel, World Canvas' co-founder together with Jussi Hertz.

Describing themselves as a place for "unconfined expressions of emotions", and as a "blank surface open to fictional fantasies and outcries of yearning", the collective will be releasing the second installment in the various-artist compilation series called Lost Memory, due Friday, May 28th in digital format. The release will collect contributions from eleven artists with different backgrounds (Keiska and Madrid's Concrete Fantasies among them) who have been tasked with developing compositions around their interpretation of the concepts of escapism and fantasy.

Today, we're happy to share with you an excerpt from the upcoming Lost Memory 02, namely the track titled ♂♀ by the Helsinki-based artist Daniil Mantere aka @exmantera (they/them), who previously released on World Canvas a two-track single called REGEN, contributed to the latest Audio Bambino's compilation, and is also half of the NAIVE META duo. The song is an exceptional compendium of the latest laptop electronics artistic solutions used by inspired sound designers from the underground digital community, developed around distorted synth stabs and metallic percussions and bundled with an eerie and abrasive melody.

The piece, available on our Soundcloud portal, comes with a video clip by Elli Norrlin that enriches the audio component with a visual commentary which adds feelings of desolation and desperation to an already dark emotional setting, shaken by gargling sounds panning through the ears, glitching artifacts, and corrosive wailing. ♂♀ is a black soundtrack for unexplored, repressed memories that leaves space for a suddenly relaxed ending providing the listener an ephemeral glimpse of serenity. Maybe, just at the very end, something good can survive.

After "Emocean" which marked its return in full confinement, Chinese producer and songwriter Shushu is gearing up to release her second EP. Titled Sweet Verses Dying Like Roses, it's due out June 18th through Genome 6.66 mbp Records. Accompanied by a dreamlike visual by artist Loic Le Hécho.

"Sweet verses dying like roses" is a 8-track collection written entirely by Shushu, produced by herself alongside Swimful and Vebe Suprada. The title inspired by the French poet Albert Samain: Je rêve de vers doux mourant comme des roses ". Just like the accuracy of his poetry, ShuShu expresses the torments that a young adult can live between love, disillusionment and homesickness. Indeed, the artist from the famous Genome label in Shanghai has been living in Paris for more than 3 years. in Paris. Capital in which she knew how to make beautiful artistic connections such as with the label Abime, High Heal or the label Isengard from Brussels.

Being part of an era of artistic eclecticism, ShuShu draws its inspiration from artists and musical genres. The diversity of its influences is also found in this EP, which makes its richness. which makes its richness. From Don Hertzfeldt's movies to Lil Peep's ambiences, the artist draws his aura from innocence of his childhood, transcribed in this fabulous dreamy atmosphere that hides the dark side of the of the project " Sweet verses dying like roses ".

Parisian producer De Grandi is back for his third EP, 11-100-JAILLE. The Paradoxe Club founding member, now based in Brussels, moves away from his mothership to release on another Parisian imprint, TV Showw, following releases from Jamal Moss, Filter Dread and Yung Acid.

Opening track 'TTP' sets things off with a peaceful and baroque ascent before a brutal and sudden industrial drop. 'Laguna' then loops through neon tunnels, with sharp turns and a glowing trance-esque arpeggiator, before 'Mercé La Zone' reduces the speed and gently enters an introspective black hole, where time warps and space stretches.

'My Volvo, My Rules (-555- Mix)' once again picks up the pace, rapidly accelerating with abrupt turns through a war zone where Shaolin-droids fight with laser guns. Eventually the bright tones of '2,75 €' signal that the war is over and darkness is behind us. The wagon runs straight towards something that looks like the gates of paradise. Make way for the light, the majestic, the sublime.

11-100-JAILLE has already garnered support from the likes of Simo Cell, Object Blue, Peder Mannerfelt, Bruce, Florentino, Joe, Teki Latex, Beatrice Dillon and Minor Science, among others.
