Movies are a powerful notalgia machine. I remember vividly seeing the movie Pump Up the Volume when I was a teenager.  I connected instantly with the music, teen angst, and existential ruminations of an 80’s kid. From Pixies to Leonard Cohen, the soundtrack was on constant repeat in my cassette player.
